Pretty good list IMO. I would love to see 2005 Texas play the 2010 auburn team though.

It is simply because they didn't go undefeated. Most people seem unwilling to rank a one loss champion ahead of an undefeated one.

Both teams where stacked that year, one of the best college games ever played.
VY's run to the win was classic.
I don't have a problem with UT 2005 GOAT BCSNC.

agreed. i don't have a problem with 05 Texas listed as the best, although in my heart i feel like USC's 04 team would have beat texas. 05 USC's defense was below average, VY wouldn't have dominated the 04 SC defense. Texas 05 regular season was very impressive, winning at ohio st than dominating their conference. the top 3 are miami 01, usc 04 and texas 05.

i think the 08 florida team is the best of the sec winners, as they were the most balanced on offense and defense. but i can see how its tough to have them rated so highly against 15 other national champions, when they lost at home to ole miss.

I think the 2011 Alabama team is the best of the SEC champions because their loss was much better than 2008 Florida's loss.

Exactly. FSU barely squeaks out a victory against a team that was lucky as hell to be there and they're top 6. Laughable.

2001 miami gets my vote

This and it's not really close. To have this year's fsu team that has is pretty laughable as well. As far as Texas... I don't think the best team of an era should give up 38 points in their signature game.

all teams have blemishes. miami squeaked by BC and va tech. 11 alabama scored 6 points in a home loss. 05 texas gave up 38 points to one of the greatest college offenses of all time. shite happens.

Yeah I'd have 2008 Fl in top 5, along with 04 USC, 01 Miami, 05 TX, and 2011 Bama.

I think 1995 Neb could play with any of them, and 01 Miami was most talented but would still lose to 04 USC.

The BCS saved AU from a humiliation in 2004.

07 LSU, 02 OSU, 06 Fl, 98 Tn are my bottom teams.

But that was their only close game of the season, and isn't the SEC supposed to be the measuring stick by which all other teams are measured?

But against the greatest LSU team in history. Look at the defensive studs on that LSU team.

How is that a blemish?

agree with all this but i'd say 95 nebraska would beat any of the bcs champions without question. they are up there with the 72-10 bulls team as the best teams I've ever seen in any sport.

you are arguing my point. the other guy said texas 05 can't be #1 because they gave up 38 to usc. my response was that no team was perfect, as miami barely beat 2 mediocre teams.

2010 AU should be top 5.

No BCS champion ever played more than 5 ranked teams. Except 2010 Auburn which played 7. Many of those BCS champs only played 3. 2010 was probably the best the SEC has ever been overall as a conference in its entire history. 2010 AU not only went undefeated, but did it while beating 5 SEC teams that finished the season ranked 6 times (beat USCe twice).

AU also beat 3 teams ranked in the final top 10, tied for the most of any BCS champ.

No other team in the BCS era has as impressive of a resume in regards to competition played.

Yeah but you paid that thief, so nobody other than Auburn fans take that title seriously.

2010 AU was very good but so dependent on one player that more balanced teams are more highly regarded.

People revise history and think Texas stopped USC...they did, once...on 4th down

To quote the late great John Facenda "Great teams aren't always great, they're just great when they have to be." They got the most important stop. In the Ohio State game that year, Texas D held tOSU to FGs after turnovers gave them a short field. That left the door open for VY to do his magic.

quote:

2004 USC way more balanced than 2011 Bama on O and as stout on D.

USC was much better on O and while their D in 2004 was really good, I don't think it was at Bama's level. Now 2008 USC D was equal to Bama.
