I haven't seen it posted today but P&G just ended their breast cancer awareness partnership with the NFL

yikes...ok, I say there is at least a 1% chance, but I've come to understand how fricking senile these owners are. People think they just give roger orders, I have no doubt they listen to roger's "guidance"

kraft reading scripts, jerry's many public embarrassments, I don't know what to make of these guys.

Preliminary ratings are down 40 percent from last week, with CBS and the NFL Net averaging a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 in fast national returns.
That's because last week had the Steelers. And the week before that was Seattle and Green Bay. Last night was a blowout with two teams nobody cares about.

I've cooled off this week. I've just accepted he's never going and even if he does, the damage is irreparable.

Point is, last night was a game that would not have rated well no matter what condition the NFL was in.

Maybe Goodell is having a press conference to announce new penalties for Brandon Marshall's 2008 domestic abuse incident.

did you see what CPTBengal posted, pregame coverage and the early ratings were down 34%...that's a lot, and this is network TV we're talking about, that's bad. I know he's not gone, but that will raise an eyebrow.

the fall schedule of network shows haven't started. Thursday night is king on network tv

it should have rated well through the first hour.

seriously, have you seen the shite that gets ratings on the networks?

There was pretty good college football game on at the same time.

Not sure how much that affected ratings, but it had to have something to do with it.

Whatever happens, Goodell has already had one of the most unbalanced terms as a commissioner of any sports league I think we've seen.

He has had led the NFL to national dominance in the sports scene. And he did it in a short time frame. Toppled MLB, brought Football to the forefront of the national conscious, for better or worse has navigated the concussion scandal well enough (and scandal is used loosely, I still don't get it, but whatever).

But man has he made some terrible, terrible decisions that seemingly might do him in. I mean I want to think this presser is about him leaving, but I have my doubts.

Anyways, what he did do was quite an achievement, both in building the NFL and his power and then squandering much of it in under 10 months.

look, they've only aired two games so they're also using comps

they're not worried, cbs is probably wondering if they got what they paid for...I bet they did another look at that schedule this morning

in the end, the move to CBS was a smart move and it will result in big ratings...most of it was the horrible game, a bit of it was how disinterested people are in the games when no one is talking up the games during the week.

I hope this shite continues to linger though. Roger is opening his fat mouth in a few minutes so I'm sure he's just going to fan the dying flames. Dude has it so easy, how can he frick this up so badly? a complicit media, invincible brand power and the apathy of so many people... to be a fly on the wall in that office

I wanna see the numbers. Football has been more popular than baseball since at least Tag, probably Rozelle.

this misconception is why he'll stay. What you said is simply not true.

gotta do some work, so don't ask me why and expect an immediate response.

In pure viewership, probably, but that's only because Baseball on TV is slgihtly more exciting than watching grass grow. But as a part of culture, that may be since Tags.

At least, just from what I see. Maybe not. I grew up during Tags reign and just don't remember the public fervor over football like there is now. I've always enjoyed football, but it seems those who I wouldn't say did 10 years ago, do now.

This. You had the defending SEC champs and National title contender playing a top 25 team. And it was close.

You had a NFL game going on with a very small amount of fantasy worthy players playing in. Add all of this in with the fact that you had two teams (one for sure) that nobody nation wide cares about?

I would have expect ratings to be bad. I'm not saying that the controversy didn't play a very small role in the ratings, but this game was doomed before the start, and continued on a downward spiral the more the Falcons scored.
