Hey, remember that time you insulted my intelligence and fricked up "your" and "you're" while doing so?

Lebron is currently GOAT because he's made the finals one more time than MJ but AT BEST has 2/3 as many titles?

LeBron does more things at an elite level than anyone who has ever played the game

ETA: Fun LeBron fact: Including 2017, his teams have been underdogs in 6/8 Finals appearances. It's not like he's taken a superior team every year and lost.

If championships are the most important aspect why isn't Bill Russell the goat?

I'm in the overwhelming minority on this one but I firmly believe Russell is the GOAT. His impact on the Celtics was immeasurable. Just look at this chart.

The Celtics went from one of the worst defensive teams in the league in 1956 to the best defense in the league with Russell in 1957. In 12 out of 13 seasons, the Celtics finished #1 in defensive rating and it was usually by a wide margin. After Russell retires, the Celtics perennial #1 defense immediately drops to the middle of the pack.

Jordan was 6/13 for reaching the finals with the Bulls, 6-0 in the finals, 6-2 in the ECF

LeBron has been 8/14 for reaching the finals in his career, 3-4 in the finals, 8-1 in the ECF

Because idiot sports announcers corrupted the word the last 25 years...so you grew up hearing Irony in the wrong form.

"The last time Miami beat Florida State they won 24-3...This time Florida State beats Miami 24-3...Isn't that ironic?"

(And now I think because the public has mis-used it so much...part of the new definition in Dictionaries simply means "coincidental."

You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

But dictionaries accept that words change meaning over time due to misuse...which is sad.

No, not really. It's LeBron fans trying to force the issue. Jordan doesn't have the blemishes on his resume like shitting the bed / not caring in big games that LeBron does. Jordan was the perfect storm. He was the most talented player who happened to be the most athletic guy in the league and was by far the most competitive. There was a time when you questioned LeBron's competitiveness. You don't anymore.

I'll say this, Lebron's best is very close to Jordan's but I think Mike at his peak was slightly better. Not a knock on LeBron. It's a damn complement but LeBron fans can't accept that. I think if anything Jordan is underrated by a generation who believe basketball players have evolved greatly in terms of athleticism the last 20 years (they haven't) and who remember Jordan as a dude who just had a midrange game and didn't shoot the 3 much. The dude aged as perfectly as you could and went out on top. LeBron is looking damn good as he gets older too. I won't be the idiot who claims he's not close to Jordan. He's the 2nd best player ever.

Do you realize there were 9 teams in 1965? NINE.

You are one of those dudes who can't separate greatest career with greatest player. Russell had a great career but he was not a better basketball player than Jordan or Lebron, dude

He was known as the greatest ever while he was still playing.

So it isn't a case of people hyping him up to legendary status after he's long retired.

He was fricking incredible.

I don't get the argument where Lebron get shite on for facing a weaker east than Jordan which is fair

But then bring up the finals losses and Jordans 6-0 when the west was a complete dumpster fire during Jordans Era.

Lebrons finals losses were to Pop's Spurs Twice. GS two years ago (one of the best collections of talent we have ever seen even then) And Mavericks during peak Dirk years in the first year that Heat team ever played together.

I mean out of Jordans six wins the only ones I remember were the Jazz and maybe Barkleys suns which weren't that good. He faced the Trailblazers whose best player was Clyde Drexler at the time. And the Shawn Kemp Supersonics for two of his championships. And an old arse Lakers team who had a 32 year old magic literally 6 months before he found out he had H.I.V. and no one else. Wasn't like he was beating storied teams in the finals.

On the flip side the 3 for Lebron has been against Pop's spurs with Duncan, OKC with KD and Westbrook, and a 3-1 comeback against the winningest team in the regular season in NBA history. I'm surpised he has three at this point

Cherry picking, his whole career counts. He was 6/15 reaching the finals as a player.
