the best of three format plays right into Barbe's hands due to pitching depth

We are back to single elimination now. 4 teams, each has to win two games on back to back days, with pitching limits.

didn't a pretty ordinary Jesuit team with Wally P. Knock off a star laden barbe team...

Yeah, it was the '96 Barbe team. Pretty sure USA Today had them #1 all year. Jesuit bounced them according to Barbe's website: 1996 (5A) — Jesuit 12, Barbe 8 (Bi).

Pontiff graduated in '99 so I don't think he was on that team.

Will someone in the know give me the scouting report on Barbe... I know about the twins but what about the rest of the team? Hitting? Pitching?

Take away the bunt and pitch backwards.

no joke. The HBP record is touted as something to be proud of, but Barbe does not draw an inner line to the batter's box for a reason. Will be curious to see how this plays out in Sulphur.

home plate ump has to set tone.. I know they had one this year get hit on part of his body that was in the K zone and he was not awarded 1b...

my kid hit a kid in the head this year and the kids head was over 1/3 third of the plate.

that was about the 5th batter he faced all were crowding.. after that.... they were where they were supposed to be...

it takes the right coach with the right demeanor.... or umps that hate cechinni.. to get it right..

very few people want a 90 ish FB on the hands

If a pitcher throws any part of a 4th inning tonight, he cannot throw tomorrow.

However, imo, 5A should be played at Alex Box.

everywhere you could play the 5A tournament someone would have a home field advantage...

If Barbe wins, it shouldn't be because their coaches and fans can abuse the opposing team through sheer numbers.

nah, it'll be because they have the best team...

although i wouldn't mind whatever makes the LHSAA decide to bring 5A back to NOLA... wonder if Barrow can host it?

I don't know much else about him other than he's going to Miss St.

Did Paul and Co. recruit him, it seems like we could use a hitter that plays behind the plate.

Not really. You could play it in Shreveport and typically no one would have an advantage.
