Old Topic (still interesting) - White Cornerbacks

There are currently no, as in zero, white corners in the NFL. If you assume each team carries 4 on their roster, that's approximately 120 corners on active NFL rosters this year...not one white guy.
Are white guys physically incapable of playing corner in the NFL? Is there a presumptive bias to that effect? Do white guys not pursue this position in high school or college?
This is really a very peculiar sports fact when you think about it.

There are a couple of white safeties fwiw

I'm sure there are...though I'm not aware of any in the SEC. That's why I think this actually goes to perception of high school and even junior high coaches placing players.

Coaches using race to put kids in certain positions when they're younger is a big reason.

The fluidity of the hips and reflexes it requires are just better in black people.

As the years go by, I'm starting to realize that Jason Sehorn's accomplishment of being a successful white cornerback for eight years in the NFL is one of the greatest sporting achievements of all-time.

Physiological differences in muscle fibers. Bias can't possibly explain ZERO white corners in competitive football. It's the same reason white sprinters are virtually non-existent these days.

The lack of diversity of cornerbacks in the NFL is utterly disgusting. I can't even. I am shaking. How could we as a society support such a racist league? This systemic racism will NOT be tolerated. I am sick and tired of NFL fans perpetuating racist culture. This MUST be stopped.

They don't even recruit them.
It's part truth and part bias that plagued the NBA before the European invasion which didn't buy into America's stereotypes.
White kids in America stopped playing basketball in the late 80's because they were told they wouldn't make it and they stopped playing RB and CB positions in football. It was QB or linebacker or bust.
European white athletes helped changed the tide in basketball...and whites started getting back to the sport in positions they thought were out of bounds...point guard, small forward. (Instead of just big lumbering white center or spot up shooting guard.)
Europe is so far behind the US in football development but it would be crazy to see in maybe 20 years - some white European NFL DBs...who for some reason get more a look because they're not just a white guy from America.
If small white guys can play WR, they can play corner. But certain positions get weeded out of athletes at a young age...like QB used to be weeded out to black athletes.

If some white guy had the exact measurables as Richard Sherman or Stanley Jean-Baptist, they would never ever even think of trying to switch him to CB.

It's bullshite and unfair.. if they can use the Rooney Rule for coaches then it's only fair that white guys who want to play corner get a shot

So what about the white athletes who grow up in mostly white communities?
Would you say there is a bias against white sprinters? No, white sprinters objectively cannot compete at the highest levels. Times say so, there is no argument.
This is a biological issue, not a sociological issue IMO.

People of west African descent have a higher proportion of fast twitch muscle fibers especially in the pelvic girdle, hamstrings and thighs.

in the next 5-10 years, you will start to see Hispanic and white corners coming out of Texas high schools. There are too many spread teams and not enough black kids to fill all those corner spots.

Went to HS with a white guy that started 4 years at CB at am FCS school (09-12). If he had been 3 inches taller he could've played FBS.
He was the fastest players on our HS team. It was a large HS that puts out multiple FBS players almost every year, and there were two other guys on our class that became starters in secondaries at P5 schools.
He was on the state championship relay team too

I just remember the 80's and Sports Illustrated came out with "What Happened to the White Athlete" - cover story.
And you had all us kids growing up in the 80's told we can't succeed at basketball.
And then you had all these white Europeans, not indoctrinated in the US culture of intimidation...and they succeeded right away...they didn't even understand why they couldn't be basketball superstars.
Hell Croatia expected to dominate the USA in basketball.
Europeans had no deference to black athletes. Like we do...it was about team and skill and not about color. They thought they had better teams.
I've been on forums that are about overseas NFL or Rugby...and they think all their white or Aussie or South African or Aboriginal athletes are just as fast and good in Rugby as LeSean McCoy in the NFL.
The rest of the world doesn't have an expectation problem like the US.
That prohibits development.
