quote:And it almost cost them another run. Arrieta steals second and if the ball hit after that is hit 2 feet shorter, he scores off of getting hit. Immature and stupid move in a winner take all game with three whole innings left.
I think hitting him was a good call. It's shady, but try something to shake him up.

Jake Arrieta is my new favorite baseball player.
I used to kind of like the Pirates too but they lost it by throwing at Arrieta
the Cubs vs Cardinals threads on here should be entertaining

Clint Hurdle is butt hurt AF. he thinks that hitting Cervelli was intentional
he's the only idiot that is ordering to hit someone in a close elimination game
Pirates were frustrated that they knew their season was over. Cant really blame em, arrieta didnt seem too bothered by it though.

once he hit about 70 pitches he definitely wore down a little.
i think he came out too juiced. Was hitting 97-98 in the 1st. He usually doesnt sit that high. They hit a ton of balls hard from the the 5th inning on.

the thing with Kang, is if they wanted to atone for, that, they had opportunities too. That shite just doesn't jive. What a dumb baseball decision overall, i still cant believe he ordered that

If the pirates feel there was sonething yo atone for with kang then they're either petty or dumb. Nothing in that play was outside of hard play in a playoff race. Throwing at jake was raising the white flag.

Anyone have a GIF yet of Rodriquez's fight with the cooler ?

That was awesome. Post game coverage on Comcast Sports Net is hilarious. Lots of attempted interviews with showers of beer and champagne.

Agreed, I was a little surprised because his four seam usually sits 95-96 early on. Can't blame him for being hyped.

Same. I'll bandwagon the shite out of 'em. 1) I work with a tiny handful of dieharders that rep the Cubs, Bears, 'hawks no matter what and they are truly good people
2) I love the way they have built their org. And the fact that these young players have pulled this off. Starting with a few years ago, have loved seeing what Rizzo, Castro, and this year = Bryant/schwarber Have done and the way they've grown (I wish Darwin Barney would've worked out bc I thought he'd be awesome.. But oh well.. He still in the league?)
3) My wife's childhood friend played for the organization and was called up in '03, the last time they won a post season series (I think?)... And him and his family are amazing people too
All shallow reasons I guess but frick it.. Its a day that ends in Y and Im dranked again.. So choo choo I'm on the Hunker down you Harry Caray Cubs train

I love Jake Arietta
Posted on 10/7/15 at 11:02 pm to OneMoreTime
Then why don't you marry him?
Posted on 10/7/15 at 11:08 pm to The Boat
From the Pirates post-game:
During Arietta's dominant streak, he's had something like 12 total balls hit w/ exit velocities of ~105 mph.
During the 6th inning, there were 3 at 107-109 mph -- the Polanco liner that Bryant tipped then corralled, the ball from Cutch that Russell couldn't collect and got the error, and the one from Marte that he started the DP on.
Guys made plays even when Arietta was less than crisp.

In the post hand interview he said he was drained. He even mentioned the crowd. I think his emotions wore him out a bit. Pretty reasonable for his first post season start.
