I don't know if the trade deadline was a come to Jesus moment for Castro or if it was losing his job, but he looks completely different. He's totally bought in to his role and has been a great asset. I never would've thought I'd say that 2 months ago.

A couple pics from last night. Trying to upload a video...

Those 8 diehard Astros fans were bringing it hard the other night, but Houston needs to step up its game.

A beanball is when they throw at your head. He got plunked in the butt. He should have manned up and walked to first.

Well...he's also a really good ball player who was too good to be that bad.

No that's headhunting a bean ball is when you throw at someone. Which the pirates did because you know surely jake was trying to hit a guy in a winner take all game so he could get to face andrew mccutchen with runners on base.

If you think he can't jaw a little bit right there then we'll just have to disagree.

That whole thing was because of Kang. Jake Arrieta isn't trying to hit two Pirate hitters in that game. Especially to face McCutchen like you said. The Pirates found an easy excuse to retaliate for Kang, something else that wasn't intentional.

For sure, which is even more absurd. I'm glad jake said something. I'm even more glad, that rodriguez looked like such an idiot.

Moving right along, Kyle Hendricks starts Game 2 in St. Louis.

they had 4 regular season games to retaliate for Kang, and never did

Not sure what else would be a better decision on paper. My guess is the bullpen will be on notice that it's a potential bullpen day with Hendricks starting.

i suppose there's a line of logic around not retaliating during the regular season and risking suspension, w/ the slimmest of hopes of chasing down the Cardinals for the division and avoiding the WC game. W/ the game more or less out of reach and frustration at its peak, i suppose they just said F it, and hit him in the butt. Cutch used Kang's walk up music last night, so i have to think it was on their minds. Hell, i'm just a fan and i picked up on it.

i certainly don't think there's was intent to destroy Kang's knee, but certainly to make hard contact and if an injury occurred that's just "playing hard". you're asking an awful lot of the Pirates to see their second best hitter, and really a guy that people have embraced fully, go down like that and say it's all good. Especially when the hole he left offensively was evident down the stretch, and the dude makes his first public appearance since the injury in a wheelchair during the pre-game introductions.

ETA: the Joe Maddon plantar fasciitis comment after the game really apparently angered the team mgmt -- seemingly making light of an obviously bad injury.

Sean Rodriguez has apologized for his actions:

quote:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Chris Jesus." Romans 3:23-24

I want to apologize for allowing my emotions to control my actions in a negative manner. I also spoke to the cooler, apologized personally, and he's forgiven me as Christ forgives.

Trying to make light of the silliness.
