What would change if they moved it from CLT to ATL?

Please don't make me talk to you like you're a 6 year old. You know the answer, everyone on here knows the answer. I won't even dignify your shitty question with telling you.

Both cities are hubs for major airlines.

Yet Atlanta has one of the busiest airports in the world. It is far more accommodating to fly direct into Altanta than Charlotte from pretty much anywhere you're coming from.

I highly doubt that the the ACCCG becomes a play in game for the playoffs

waht does this have to do with comparing the current ACCCG to a hypothetical one in Atlanta?

quote:

the weather is not what is keeping the fans away from the ACCCG.

I assure you it is a massively important role. The first couple years there were some clunker matchups, but your'e out of your damn mind if you don't think more people would travel to Atlanta in a dome than they would in jacksonville or charlotte and sit outside in december.

Also as mentioned previously, there is so much more to do to make an "event" of the thing in Atlanta than charlotte. I was just in charlotte 2 months ago for a football game so I feel I have at least a shred of experience with it. The city itself is very nice, clean, and I don't really have anything bad to say about charlotte. But it doesn't have the attractions and spectacles that Atlanta does for a visiting football fan. Not even remotely close actually.

I hate to stick up for the acc, but are you really so dense to think the acccg would only sell 40k seats in the dome? There's a major reason it's attendance is so laughably bad, and that reason would disappear were it in Atlanta.
bullshite. The reason is because it is an ACC neutral site game. No matter where they play it the attendance will be awful. Their bell cow football team doesnt even sell out and travel for the national championship. Conversely, you could play the SEC championship on the moon and it would sell out

To further my point, Atlanta didnt make the SEC Championship the center of college football, conversely, the SEC championship made Atlanta feel like the center. I find it laughable that you think Atlanta has some mythical football aura about it

No, I would never dishonor Charlotte like that. Go look at any poll, Charlotte is a far better city than Atlanta

As soon as someone finds a more centrally-located viable city featuring a suitable stadium with weather that is better than room temperature, the location of the SECCG should change.

well you're kind of an idiot if you think that. FSU/GT last year, outside in december, sold 64K tickets. You don't think they would have filled up the dome?

Obviously, your dukes and WF's aren't going to be a draw, and never will be. But if you don't think they could sell 75+ seats at an indoor dome in atlanta for some combo of FSU/gt/clemson/VT/miami you're insane.

Im insane for thinking they could do something they have never done before by simply moving venues? I'll happily be called insane then

That's so 2009.

Let's compare:
Falcons-one Superbowl loss
Saints-one Superbowl win

So basically there is a minute difference in 2 terrible franchises. I love it that the Saints fans think they are the Steelers or Patriots because of one year.

I also find it laughable for NOLA people to rag on Atlanta. There is a reason one ATL has grown and NOLA sits stagnant ready to go under water every year.

How many threads and list do you want me to pull up for you? You honestly think people like Atlanta over Charlotte as a city?

There is another use and pronunciation of the word "minute"

New Orleans has a ring

Old news. One success from a crap franchise.

Dont be a stupid arse. Im obviously comparing the culture and experience of the two. I grew up in one and lived half a decade in the other. The points I specified are fairly valid. In no way did I say they were identical

Uhh..yes. It's really not hard to get.

Option A is outdoors in 20 degree weather with not much local fanfare outside of a NASCAR hall of fame.

Option B is indoors and climate controlled in a (since this scenario would be assuming the SECCG has left) brand new, state of the art facility that is one of the best in the world. Not to mention it has a shite ton of attractions all within a mile, including one that is actually specific to college football.

So yes, if you don't think that option B would outdraw option A, you are insane.

You are making this sound so simple. The ACC championship game usually has absolutely atrocious attendance. But you think moving it to Atlanta will make it a sell out spectacle. I think that is insane

FSU vs GT, where paid attenedance was 64k

What do you think was actual? 45k

Yeah, because sitting outside in December in the elements isn't fun. The belk bowl between UGA and Louisville was like half full...if the game was in a domed stadium don't you imagine it would have drawn more?

Do you think the peach bowl would be a sellout every year if it were in jacksonville or charlotte?

[quote]What do you think was actual? 45k [/quote

Probably something like that. If only it was indoors and a few hours closer to both teams...

You act like this game is played in the artic tundra. When it is played in Jacksonville, it is often great weather. Like the one picture I posted. Notice some of the 15k( ) wearing short sleeves?
