This leaves out a lot of good teams.

6 SEC teams
1 ACC team (I don't include ND)

What, FSU and Miami don't have strong enough "brands?" I cringed when I wrote that.

If you did this based on the BCS era alone, UCLA and Nebraska (and probably Michigan) would have already been dropped for teams like Iowa, Stanford, VA Tech and Washington.

Washington is a better historical program than UCLA, and they have a more recent National Championship.

They discussed if we could ever see this potentially happening in the NCAA?

Yes I could see this happening, but I’d hate the setup.

Imagine the amount of money this kind of league would make though?

Short term, probably a lot off the first tv contract. Long term, it’d be a disaster. Fans of Washington, Iowa, Ole Miss, South Carolina, etc. aren’t going to consistently tune in to watch teams in a league they aren’t a part of.

People don’t watch college sports to see the best players. They watch to see their team. This “Super League” would have half the fans of FBS.

UCF, Boise, Cincy and Ole Miss has accomplished more in the past 10 years than Nebraska and UCLA.

Why devise something that gives has-been programs a boost vs. those who have succeeded pretty big without $90 Million athletic budgets?

Does this make the P5 conferences more competitive, if they leave?

Only if there is a second tier league with relegation. Bottom 2 are dropped down and top 2 from 2nd tier are moved up each year. Would be great throughout college sports. Not sure why no American professional leagues have adopted this. Would make for more teams and more local pride.

Would have to make the promotion/relegation based on cumulative record of a few years to allow for recruiting/avoid yo-yo schools at the bottom. Soccer teams play a lot more games giving a much bigger sample size for the year. Quarterback of a “bottom half” team gets knocked out with an ACL week one and you’re probably getting relegated.

Needs more than just 18 teams.

IMO, you go with an easily divisible number like:
24, 32, 48, 60, 64, or 72

Personally, I would do 6 conferences with 12 teams each (72).

The 6 conference champs make the playoff.

Top 2 teams in the polls get a first a round bye.

Conferences would attempt to be both regional and maintain traditional rivalries. Each conference would play only 8 conference games, and each team would be permitted to have an optional permanent OOC rival and cross-division rival.

The 72 teams that I would pick would be basically the P5 plus a few extra teams here and there. The conferences would largely resemble the status quo before the Big 12 blew up, but with some noticeable differences here and there.

All tv revenue would be shared equally by all teams and all conferences, but conferences negotiate their own deals.

Just looks like Pac12 and Big 10/12 trying to bottom feed the SEC. Stay in your own conferences where yall already barely win shite.

And one Florida team? You guys are throwing Miami and Florida State out because they've had a few bad years but Nebraska, Texas and UCLA get a pass?

The SEC is already more interesting than this "league" could be.

at least soccer has a chance with casual fans in other parts of the world and can attract them

i don't know how college football ever thought they could attract casual fans like the ones they thought they were gonna get with Rutgers in the Big Ten, or how the SEC thought Missouri could move the needle
