Starting with a 40 on the first 9, then getting to 18 under is more impressive

Rewarding someone for starting off so poorly is better than actually starting off strong and continuing on?

Where was the all-time great in their prime making lots of birdies and putting pressure on Tiger?

21 y/o Tiger was paired with defending Masters champion Nick Faldo on Thursday and Friday. Tiger looked like he was going to miss the cut after the front 9 on Thursday after shooting 40 before the turn and he was stuck playing with a legend in Faldo.

What did Tiger do? He fired a 30 (-6) on the back 9 and never looked back.

quote:

Four bogeys and five pars in his opening nine holes pointed to a missed cut. But like the steeliest of athletes, Woods refused to be written off.

Rick Reilly observed, "Something happened to him as he walked to the 10th tee, something that separates him from other humans. He fixed his swing, right there, in his mind."

Tiger was still younger than Jordan. The wire to wire line means nothing considering that Tiger led after 3 of the 4 rounds.

Leading by 9 after three rounds is more impressive than 4.

The # of players that finished under par in 97 compared to # in 2015 are not even close... The course in 97 was harder when looking at it this way......

The course was a lot shorter then. How can people say the course was easier last week.

Did you really expect Tommy Tolles or Paul Stankowski to shoot -18??

What about Phil, Tom Watson, or Nick Faldo?

Look at the equipment and physical condition of the players in 97. The course may have been shorter but so was the equipment...

These guys claiming Speith's Masters was more impressive than Tiger's 97 are nuts. And I can't stand Tiger. Tiger lapped the entire field. This week the course obviously played softer than most years. Two people tied at -14, which would have won 73 of 79 previous Masters. What was Tiger's lead after three rounds, 9? Speith led by 4. And two more were only 5 behind.

All of this. Anybody saying Spieth's win this year is more impressive than Tiger in 97 are either too young to have seen it, or their logical reasoning is completely clouded by hate for the IRL douche bag that Tiger is.

What a lot of us are saying is that Jordan faced stiffer competition than Tiger did.

Yep. This is Tiger's bag from the '97 Masters. Look at that driver with a steel shaft. Looks like a heavy 3 wood in 2015.

Do you even understand the concept of soft greens? There was a record number of eagles this week, by about 10. Long irons sticking on Augusta's famed greens that don't normally hold 7 irons.

Edit: Constantino Rocca was twice the player that Charlie Hoffman is. John Daly stole a British Open from him.
