Dude's only 24 and is on pace to be breaking records. I understand he's not Will Clark, but with that said will Troit achieve GOAT status at this rate?

He will need to change teams.

He's certainly on pace for it. But will need to sustain it over a long career.

It's like watching a healthy Mickey mantle who takes the game seriously.

It's way too early to even bother having this discussion, he'll probably play another 15 years or so. Steph Curry went from being GOAT on this board in February to just being a goat now in June. People overreact so much with this GOAT stuff

I mean, Trout's been the best player in baseball the past four years, and he's only 24. Not exactly a small sample size to consider if he keeps up at this pace, will he be one of the game's all-time best

He's 24 with an MVP and 3 MVP runner ups. It's not too early, it's unprecedented. He's on his way to another MVP more than likely

Steph Curry isn't comparable

He's off to about as good a start as you could hope for. At this point is going to be about taking care of his body and avoiding injuries. Injuries is the only reason we're not calling Ken Griffey Jr the GOAT right now.

No. Assuming this is the best he'll ever be(safe assumption given his fielding and base running have already regressed)

The best players of a generation are always better player than what Trout is.

80s Schmidt/Henderson
90s Bonds/Arod
00s Arod/Bonds/Pujols

If NY has a choice between Harper and Trout, who do they go with?

Wrong Griffey at his very best was never quite as good as A-Rod Pujols Schmidt Rickey and certainly not Bonds

This entire sentence makes little sense.

He's a much better player than Will Clark, so this comparison doesn't make sense. Not saying Clark wasn't good, but Mike Trout is a legit 40/40 player. A complete 5-tool player and arguably the best talent in the league

I remember this argument was being presented when it was a young buck named Albert Pujols.

Maybe?

Prime A-Rod was a fricking beast. There's a reason why every top young infield prospect was always compared to him. He was the prototype.

No he isn't. Trout's hitting has improved while his baserunning and fielding have regressed
