Michael Sam signs with the CFL

with the Montreal Alouettes. This will be good for him. He can play pro football and get a decent salary and him being gay won't be a big deal in Canada.
I occasionally watch CFL games so it'll be interesting to see him on field. It's interesting that the SEC defensive player of the year two years ago never made it in the NFL.

That might have been part of it. I do think he was given less of a chance compared to others in the NFL because some teams didn't want the extra media attention or potential problems with homophobic teammates.
I find it hard to believe that he didn't make it i the NFL as a defensive specialist or backup.

It's already been explained numerous times that with his skill set, he needs to be a special teamer to catch on with a team, and work his way into the line rotation. He doesn't want to or isn't good at it, so no NFL team is gonna waste a roster spot on him

How does the SEC defensive player of the year from the best league in college football not even make a roster spot in the NFL? Sure he was not going to be the next Suh or Lawrence Taylor but there's no denying he had the skill set to have a roster spot in the NFL.

Why? He has terrible athleticism and is a tweener linemen. There have been much more decorated collegiate players that have never seen an NFL regular season field

Not much. Plenty of players are good in college and terrible in the pros. Tons actually.
Didn't he get most of his sacks against non SEC competition anyway? Or was that Shane Ray?
