If he goes to the West in 2010 he goes to any team he wants. That's probably the Spurs.

Lebron detractors should thank their lucky stars he didn't go to the West to be on a Pop-coached team.

Given Pop's well-known litmus test of requiring a player to have "gotten over themselves," highly unlikely that would have happened with LeDecision-era James.

The James of today, absolutely, though. He's matured quite a bit since then.

Can't forget he led TWO separate franchises to 6 straight finals(atm), won 4 MVPs, averages more rebounds and assists than MJ, can play all 5 positions on the floor, will exceed MJ in his playoff records, and led the greatest finals comeback against the greatest historical regular season team in NBA history while submitting a triple-double average. He is THE Most Valuable Player in the history of the NBA based off that alone and how can anyone argue against those accomplishments that he isn't the GOAT? The MF shot better pct from FG and 3 pt than MJ. 7 verified Finals appearances in 13 completed seasons, likely 8 in 14 this season. There's the case for LeGOAT. Game. Set. Match. *drop mic*

Pretty good read about LeBron's reign in the East and the challengers that have come and gone.

LeBron has played every team in the East at least once in the playoffs, except the Heat and the Cavs. He's beaten every team in the Eastern Conference playoffs at least once, except the Heat, Cavs, and the Magic.

Except Jordan scores more and has virtually the same TS% as LeBron.

When you're Jordan or LeBron, sometimes being unselfish actually isn't the best basketball play.

Sometimes it isn't, but LeBron's efficiency numbers result from his reluctancy to take bad shots. You can't just take his TS% and extrapolate it to 20% more shots per game.

More of the false story about Lebron, he's never avged a triple double and he gets credit for playing 5 position when he's only ever played 3. Magic actually played center in a deciding game of an NBA finals scored 45 points and hit the game winner, he's actually done what ppl fantasize about Lebron but nobody ever mentions it. Most of these ignorant staements about the King are due to ppl having only watched his era of basketball the rest are due to the rumor heavy storylines of this generation. Let the guy finish his career then he can be placed where he belongs. As of now he's nowhere near MJ Russell or Kareem and he still has work to do to pass Magic, Shaq, Bird and Kobe.

Can you provide your Bird > Lebron argument?

Similar type players in that they were do it all forwards, Birds effect of his team was almost the same taking a 21 win team and improving it by 40+ games. Both have 3 rings with Bird having the better record in finals and did it in a more competitive era. They're nearly the same player just different eras. You guys marvel at Lebrons ability but when Bird arrived he was just as alien in talent as Lebron is now.

You are a fan of Lebrons so of course you're going to overrate him but look at it this way. Randy Moss vs Jerry Rice who was more talented? Moss no question but who was the better player? Rice no question. Rice has 4 Super Bowl rings if Moss had won 1 does that put him ahead of Rice? No it doesn't and that's the same argument with Jordan and Lebron. Let his career layout then rank him.

points - lebron
assists - lebron
rebounds - larry
MVPs - lebron
titles - equal
final MVPs - lebron
all-star - lebron
all-nba 1st team - lebron
PER - lebron

Don't really see the Rice vs Moss comparison, but ok. Or the Jordan vs Lebron argument. We're talking about Lebron vs Bird.

But I've been down this road before and it's an exercise in futility.

Completely irrelevant, but if anything, it strengthens LeBron's case. Is 3-0 in the Finals actually better than 3-6?

6-0 is better...

Of course you disagree but if you look at it objectively you wouldn't. Numbers and stats are dependent on circumstance but when you're talking about GOAT type players you cannot omit championships and besides the 07 finals Lebron has fallen short of the other all time greats. If you're gonna use the selective critiria Lebron fans use to elevate him Wilt Chamberlin would be the all time best without a doubt even over the King.

I'm using stats, awards and titles. That is objectively.

I didn't. They are equal in number of titles.

Objectively, Lebron is better than Bird.

Exercise in futility. Have a good one.

Yes but Bird was hurt the better part of his final 5/6 years so of course Lebrons volume of accolades will be better and that counts for sure. But you're undervaluing what Bird was and how good he was in his prime. Dude was the best player in a loaded league in his prime and was the best player on the greatest team in NBA history. And the titles are equal so he won his in a shorter window against better competition. Lebron looks like a better player I'll agree but when you look at results it's closer than you think.

Yes it is if you're close minded about it. Lebrons lost 4 finals and is sub .500 Birds finals record is much better you have to account for this stuff. I'm not force feeding you definite conclusions I'm saying you have to be open to this stuff right now. If Lebron ends up 6-4 then there no question and he's not done yet that's why I'm saying wait before you place him. The better discussion is has there ever been someone playing at his level presently. You can say Shaqs finals Jordan's post seasons Lebrons are all on that GOAT level but it's unfair all around to crown an unfinished career.
