The odds of Johnny Manziel getting a second chance in the NFL remain long. Yet, despite having not played since 2015, the former Heisman Trophy winner apparently is drawing more interest than Colin Kaepernick.

Manziel said Saturday he has had a couple of conversations with NFL teams about a comeback. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported in March that Manziel had breakfast with Saints coach Sean Payton at the Super Bowl to discuss a return.

“I know the situation that I put myself in,” Manziel said from the fantasy football convention in Dallas, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I know the year I took off and obviously the mistakes that I made. Right now, I’m hopeful. I’m really hopeful. I think that I made some progress in that regard. But we’ll see. Whenever I get a call, I’ll do whatever I can to make the most of it.”

I love Johnny, but every NFL defense he will ever see will have the discipline to play him like LSU. Mental issues aside, he just doesn't have what it takes.

I'd sign Johnny over Osweiller in a heartbeat and I'd welcome the cocaine to the locker room. Cocaine is a hell of a drug. Mix that with hookers and we may win the super bowl

What a stunning overreach of a conclusion. A couple of conversations now equals more interest than Kaep?

Didn't Kap get a meeting with the Seahawks?

Why is one meeting with Manziel more interest than Kap?

is not the same as...

that's like saying Indy in trade talks for Klay Thompson.

Not even remotely close to what happened

I still can't believe the Browns spent a 1st on Weeden then a few years later burn a 1st on Manziel.

If Johnny Manziel gets a job before Colin Kaepernick, Kaepernick (and others) may have an issue with that.

The firm that represents Kaepernick won’t, because the same firm represents Manziel. Earlier this year, Kaepernick hired Jeff Nalley of Select Sports Group. Likewise, Erik Burkhardt of Select Sports Group allowed Manziel to rehire Burkhardt, a year after Burkhardt had fired Manziel. Yes, it creates a potential conflict of interest for the agency, since both players are vying for the same quarterback jobs. For now, though, it’s no issue, since no team has offered a job to either guy.

And it’s hard to imagine any team entrusting Manziel with a spot on the depth chart, for a variety of reasons. If anyone does before giving a job to Kaepernick, the cries of a concerted effort to keep him out of the league will justifiably become louder than ever.

If Seattle didn't sign Kap he has no shot.

It's obvious nobody wants the publicity headache. He should move on and put his money where his mouth is and start some black youth program or something.

Try out again in a couple years when everyone forgets about it.

I'm tired of people acting like teams are wrong for not signing Kap. The bottom line is if he was sucking it up when he last played. If he was winning and playing well he would have a job.

Yea I'm sure he is better than some of the backups in the league but who wants to go through all this "stuff" for a backup?

Anyone who didn't see this coming in college was completely blinded by the showmanship. Johnny never stood a chance in the NFL.

Kapp would of been signed a long time ago if he was willing to accept a 3 or 4m contract

LSU never allowed him to throw for 370 yards, but the Steelers did.
