To add onto that, I didn't even notice Eli had only 7.07 YPA for his CAREER. Even last year was sub 7

He was 25th last year among all qualifying QBs. Even lower than Sam Bradford

VERY good season.

Eli was top 10 in all the major passing categories that season.
We have different definitions of "all."

Eli will be a first ballot HOFer and plenty of posters here will hate it

Probably, because he's not even close to being considered the best of the best. Not a single top 5 season... first ballot HOFer.

Laugh all you want.

Phillip has a better TD%, Yards per Attempt, QB Rating (by 11 points), a lower interception percentage, and while has taken more sacks has lost less yardage.

He's thrown 6 less touchdowns, but 59 less interceptions. His top 3 best seasons are better than Eli's best 3 seasons. On what planet is it laughable Rivers is better.

Yeah, Rivers > Eli is far from laughable.

Eli had a VERY good season that year(Giants D sucked per usual): 4900 yards, 29-16 TD/INT ratio, 61% completion pct, 8 Y/A, 14 Y/C, and 93 passer rating

Good god.

Rivers average completion rate, career QB rating, and interception rate are all better than that supposed very good season.

Yeah Eli will likely be a borderline case for HOF voters bc of the inconsistency of his career and, like you argued, he hasn't been a top 5 passer, except for 2011, in the most prolific passing context of the NFL's 97 year history. Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Roethlisberger have clearly been superior to Eli in this era.

Yeah, point being that Eli has submitted some very prolific seasons that have been offset by erratic putrid ones very Favre-esque. Like Favre, his Achilles Heel is completion pct and turnovers.

If his last name was Smith, people would have a different perspective on his career. It would be viewed as a good not great career, and he would be seen as a tier 2 qb among his contemporaries. Where the calculus changes is because he's a Manning and he played in New York. Because of those two things, he is unjustifiably elevated by many.

I'd argue it's the rings, people get blinded by them.

DUde Favre was a top 5 QB MULTIPLE times in the league. Eli has a season or two where we can agree he was top 15. Above that, it's debatable.

It's the rings and total yards that people are blown away by. That's what the pro-Eli crowd falls back on in these discussions.

Brad Johnson has a ring and no one is insisting he's some incredibly player. He has two, so I get that, but it isn't just the rings. Big Ben had to put up some ridiculous seasons before his reputation elevated--and he had rings!

2 rings and Super Bowl MVPs definitely elevate Eli's argument in some respects

At most, one top-5 season and you're comparing him to Favre.

I love when you talk sports.

To illustrate my point, Joe Flacco has had a very similar career to Eli, yet Eli is considered better than Flacco by pretty much every talking head and publication.

ETA: Is Joe Flacco a lock hall of famer? Of course not. Certainly not on the first ballot.

I'm comparing their weaknesses and, if you assess the stats, Eli's and Favre's seasonal stats are comparable in more respects beyond their respective reputations in the league. You'd be surprised how similar their stats are to each other.
