C'mon

U have 6/7 of the top 20 markets in the Small market division?????

If they are top10 market and cannot compete, frick them, they become fodder for rest of big clubs. Always need fodder for the big and middle table clubs.

And St.Louis would go in Small Market. There are 22 teams who are in larger market than Cardinals.

Start making the games last 90 minutes. And put the Astros back in the fricking NL.

Baseball's weakness is how regional the coverage and attention span has been... your plan would exacerbate that issue IMO

Do not put all of the NE teams and CA teams in teh same divisions. You want the major media hubs to cover more than two divisions.

This is some of the stupidest shite I've ever read on the MSB, and that is saying something. There is no need or reason to change the divisions.

Agreed.

I would have liked to see Roger Clemens in the box after some of his roid rages from the mound.

Division realignment is silly. So is ejecting someone. Just have a penalty box and lock the player in there for an inning. If it's the pitcher, Brock Holt can just drop in for an inning of work.

i know, every scenario i came up with you are left with at least one very "meh" division that you know would get very little coverage. mainly i was thinking how cool it would be to see the major population centers in the northeast, california, and great lakes in the same division and the rivalries that would create.

dont get me wrong i understand why the divisions are the way they are and i like them that way (aside from the previously mentioned brewers/astros controversy). this was just an exercise in creating geographically sensible super-divisions.

If you want to change baseball's divisions in a rational way you probably have to increase the total number of teams by two to get to 32 total. Then you have the potential for four divisions in both leagues.

Let's arbitrarily make the case that Sacramento and Austin are your expansion sites (large states with well supported baseball attendance, affluence, etc) because San Jose is SF territory, Las Vegas brings gambling and the other probable sites like Montreal, Providence, Charlotte, and Memphis don't look like they would have the combination of affluence and population to support a 162 game season.

Then you could talk about moving around a few teams while keeping intact a few blocks like:

yankees, red sox, orioles
cardinals, cubs, reds +/- pirates
phillies, mets
dodgers, giants, padres
tigers, twins, white sox, indians
A's, mariners

It never made sense why they moved the Astros instead of the Brewers to the AL.

The real reason was its proximity to Chicago and Selig's wanting a close natural rival. A guaranteed sellout whenever they play, and at the time they were trying to finish up support of the new stadium.

This is really the best answer. Make sure there at 16 teams in each league so you don't have a daily inter league matchup.

I could see 4 4-team divisions with maybe 2 wild cards....but I also like the idea of two eight team divisions with each champ gets a "bye" and then four wild card teams play a series.

I guess the White Sox don't count in Selig's eyes - which I'm sure they don't. F Selig.....
