how would you re-align mlb divisions?

being that california has 5 mlb teams, ive always thought how cool it would be to see them battle it out in one division. i understand that dual-team cities such as new york, chicago, and los angeles would never allow their teams to be in the same league, much less division, but i chose to ignore that. i meainly focused on what would make geographic sense.
5 team format feat. the highway 1 division:
while this would split up some traditional rivalries, it would be cool to see the cards and royals play more often
6 team format (idk how playoffs would work but whatever) feat the great lakes division, and the megalopolis:
introducing west coast division and the sun belt division (also preserves cards/ cubs while including royals):

They're never going to get rid of the American and National Leagues.

Get rid of wild cards...make an east and a west division in each league. The two division winners play in the LCS. Basically what it was pre 1994 strike

I agree! The NHL went back to the pre-1994 divisional rounds format for the playoffs why can't MLB do it as well. I feel the LCS's have been cheapened because of the Wild Cards and the ridiculous 1 game play-in games.
If MLB went back to 2 leagues, 2 divisions they need to put the Braves and Reds in the NL East and put the Cubs and Cardinals in the NL West instead of the way it was pre 1994.

Put the Astros in AL East. Problem solved.

The only thing I would do is move the Astros to the NL Central, Brewers to the AL Central and Royals to the AL West. It never made sense why they moved the Astros instead of the Brewers to the AL.

Not gonna lie, in a world where baseball just started and there are no existing leagues your third option looks good. The NE, Cali and Midwest divisions are money.

Selig didn't want his Brewers in the AL.

Except it's an odd number of divisions.

I think MLB should go to every team using the DH or none at all. Divide the leagues up into major/small market divisions. With no salary cap, this seems fair to me. The larger the market, the more money they should have. Play every team in baseball. Give the fans some choice. I think this would spice things up big time. Create some GREAT rivalries!!
LARGE:
NY Yankees
NY Mets
Boston Red Sox
Philadelphia Phillies
Washington Nationals
Atlanta Braves
Detroit Tigers
Chicago Cubs
Chicago White Sox
St Louis Cardinals
Texas Rangers

SMALL:
Toronto Blue Jays
Baltimore Oriels
Tampa Bay Rays
Miami Marlins
Cleveland Indians
Cincinnati Reds
Pittsburgh Pirates
Milwaukee Brewers
Minnesota Twins
Kansas City Royals
Colorado Rockies
Arizona Diamondbacks
San Diego Padres
Oakland A's
Seattle Mariners

This. The Brewers had a history as an AL team. Putting them back in the AL was the logical thing to do. But BB03 nailed it...Selig didn't want to do that to his Brewers. So he strongarmed the Astros into moving

Divide the leagues up into major/small market divisions. With no salary cap, this seems fair to me. The larger the market, the more money they should have.
So in that case you'd completely screw some teams while unfairly rewarding others using some random monetary median which would have teams throwing budgets and creating unnecessary chaos to get themselves in the small market division

I think they should just start next year with every team from rookie ball up to the majors having their current roster and go to promotion/relegation.
*I don't really think they should do that.

I hate the DH.
Every argument on this is tired, but I'll say I enjoy the strategies surrounding the hitting pitcher. Double switches, etc.
Plus dudes like Bumgartner and Scherzer can rake, and if you don't find watching a guy like Colon bat then you're entertained by different things than I am.

I hate watching pitchers hit even more. The average OPS for a pitcher is below .350. A player can field like Ozzie Smith and they still wouldn't last three years in the big leagues with a .350 OPS. Pitchers have no business being in the batter's box. If the National League doesn't want to have a DH, that's fine. But go to an eight man batting lineup instead. Just don't have pitchers hit.

I'd rather watch Nelson Cruz, A-Rod, Morales, etc. hit than Colon.
Of course, these guys would be forced to play a position if they played in the NL, but the DH is still making room for an actual capable hitter in the AL.
I hate NL baseball. But it's all opinion. No one is "wrong."
ETA: Again, ask Astros fans how long it took them to get over their pitchers not batting.

Interesting. Would obviously never happen, but I've never heard this concept before.

Also, if one National League owner didn't go on a fishing trip in the 1970's, the NL would have had the DH for the last 40 years.
