re: Best career you've had in a sports game? - jerseyfla
This is a while back but in 1998 on Triple Play 99 for the PS1 I created myself as a pitcher for the Mets. I went 29-1 with a 2.54 ERA, I was the All-Star Game starter (We lost), led the Mets to a 100-62 record edging the Braves by 3 games in the NL East. I even acquired Mike Piazza doing the same e...

re: Ever left your hometown and moved back years later - jerseyfla
From Tampa area, I enlisted in the Air Force 16 years ago I've been to New Jersey, Florida (Cocoa Beach), Mississippi, and now Ohio and if I don't make E7 in the next 4 years I have to retire at 20 years. My wife and I are looking at moving back to Tampa to be near my family but I like the 4 seasons...

re: Does anyone have trouble with NBC local golf feeds cutting off picture? - jerseyfla
Is it that your NBC affiliate may not be in HD on Directv? Biloxi has this same problem because the 4 year old NBC affiliate WXXV 25.2 came on the air to replace NOLA's WDSU after Directv launched locals for Biloxi but only allocated 4 spots for HD so they don't have enough bandwidth for WXXV 25.2 i...

re: Should MLB mandate speaking English in interviews for US markets? - jerseyfla
I watched a documentary on YouTube about Roberto Clemente and even though his English sounded very broken by his deep Puerto Rican accent he actually spoke excellent English but that was a different time when they tried to be more liked and respected by the fans and the media. Nowadays that's not ne...

re: How awesome is METV in Monroe? - jerseyfla
I don't think that's Me I think you're talking about Cozi TV which I wish we had in Dayton because they show better shows than Me which is more geared towards 60s and 70s shows where Cozi and Antenna are more 70s and 80s shows like Miami Vice and A-Team. We just got Antenna TV in Dayton back in Janu...

re: Why didn't they have the West Regional in Glendale? - jerseyfla
It came down to the domed stadiums for Regionals being overkill because there weren't selling the amount of tickets to make it full and there were a lot of horrible sight lines so now those cities hosting future Final Fours will host Regionals at arenas nearby instead....

Jeff Daniels doesn't narrate those commercials Tim Allen does and we see them in Ohio all the time along with Missouri. What's so special about Missouri?...

re: Super Bowl XXV 25th anniversary - jerseyfla
I'm getting up at 2:30am to watch the Super Bowl at my deployed location just like those guys did 25 years ago. It's ironic because I was 9 years old then and my oldest son who shares my name is the same age today watching this Super Bowl while I'm gone....

re: Article on Super Bowl Host Cities - jerseyfla
Everyone saying it should rotation between NOLA, LA, and Miami let me say this. Don't discount these cities. Glendale, AZ- Never been there but I have friends stationed right there at Luke AFB and they say it's a great place to host a SB and the roof being open last year was great. The only thin...

Teams you are not a fan of but respect their organization - jerseyfla
Are there some teams that you are not fan of mostly because you never lived or grew up there but respect their organization because of their ownership or players. For me: NFL- Pittsburgh Steelers. Rooney family has ran a great organization, well liked in the community, and there is rarely contro...

City of Champions Stadium (Inglewood) Indoors? - jerseyfla
I haven't found full details and specs of the new stadium for the Rams but the renderings show it with a roof. Why would you want a covered stadium in Southern California? Yes, it rains on rare occasion but it won't have the same picturesque charm as the Rose Bowl did for previous Super Bowls when C...

re: Of the cities with at least 3 big 4 sport teams, what team is the most popular? - jerseyfla
I agree, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Lightning aren't getting somewhat close. Everyone loves the owner and they have the best sports venue in the area. In Sarasota, you see far more Lightning gear than other TB teams.
The Lightning are the only team in the Bay Area where th...

re: 17 years ago Today: inaugural BCS game took place - jerseyfla
Correct. Sirr Parker led A&M to victory over K State and Miami beat UCLA.
The other bowl games in the BCS and those with Big 12 tie ins were so sure K-State was going to win that they already booked the teams below them to their bowl games and K-State got stuck with a lowly Alamo ...

re: Which local news do you watch? - jerseyfla
I'm military so I'm not going to name all places but when I was living in Biloxi it was WLOX ABC/CBS 13, Mobile's WKRG CBS 5 or Pensacola's WEAR ABC 3 depending on if I was going to there or Destin on a weekend. Now that I'm in Dayton, OH I watch just WHIO CBS 7 or WCPO ABC 9 or WKRC CBS 12 out o...

re: Official "official" favorite comedian thread? - jerseyfla
I like Jim Breuer and Jim Gaffigan who are hilarious even with clean material. I've always been a George Carlin fan though. Another guy who I like is technically stand-up but is more known for his YouTube videos is Vic DiBitetto. He's the guy that did the Bread and Milk video and the Justin Beib...

re: Where does Perfect Strangers rank for you as a sitcom? - jerseyfla
Perfect Strangers might have been a crappy show but the theme was catchy as with a lot of other 80s and Early 90s TV shows. Nowadays sitcoms are not the same and many of them have cold opens or very brief opens....
