Move up the kick off. If you make it through the uprights it counts as the extra point and a touch back.

What if you're John Carney?

I think the fact that this may be the only memorable missed extra point in the last, I don't know, 2500 games or so is kind of the point as to why there's no need to continue the kick, at least from that distance.

Then you get blasted off into space.

Mason Crosby went 53/55
Shayne Graham went 46/47
Greg Zuerlein went 34/35
Dan Carpenter and Kai Forbath went 31/32 each
Robbie Gould went 28/29
Jay Feely went 5/6

Cumulatively, the league went:
1223/1231 for 99.35%

What if you missed the kick because THE LACES WERE IN?

XP sure wasn't pointless in 2013 when ASU played UA and blocked two of them to win the game... Sure wasn't pointless when Romo fumbled the snap and the 'Boys lost... Etc etc etc

we're not taking about college.

And technically, I'm pretty sure Romo didn't botch an extra point. And even if it were, again, the fact that we know of the very few instances of the top of our head kinda proves my point.

ok, keep going...

It's always been virtually automatic. I think the conversion rate was 90-95% even in the 60s. Now it's 95-100%. This is finding something to complain about. Football has genuine issues... this is not one of them.

I like that extra points are close and automatic. There's no need to change them.. push them further back.. to try to make it harder to convert.

I like that it's so devastating to miss an extra point.

Make the kickers wear jetpacks. If they miss the XP, they are immediately blasted off into space and die in orbit. Could you imagine with your kids "No, son...that's not a star....that's just the corpse of Morten Andersen"

Where do you get the inspiration for this shite

pretty much where I stand. It risks the players to injury for something that is the closest thing to automatic in football.

When was the last guy to get injured on an extra point try?

I don't like the "risks tge players" arguments. They play football, this is football, play it.

More people got injured celebrating sacking aaron Rodgers this year than on extra points. Let's make sacking him against the rules.

They should give teams the option of letting a random fan kick it for 3 pts instead of 1

Kick extra point

Or

Throw a sideline fade in the endzone for 50 points.

Blitz rules. I like it.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. It's such a game changer on the rare occasion it happens. I like that.

I would hate to see game tying or game winning drives as the clock is winding down completely cheapened by not being able to convert the extra point.

"Yea, you just engineered an 80 yard touchdown drive down field in 33 seconds with no timeouts.. but now let's get on our knees and pray that our kicker hits this 50 yard XP so we can go to overtime."

Not what I want to see.

ETA: I do however like the jet pack idea mentioned above.

I wasn't aware that it was broken. So leave it as is. No need to mess with it.

But if they changed the PAT somehow then it would change other aspects of the game as well.

Trey Wingo tweeted that an NFL coach told him extra points are gone.
