There is nothing broken. Change for the sake of change is almost always a bad idea.

Get rid of it entirely. Make TDs worth 7 points.
Ask yourself if you want games decided by extra point plays, no matter how many ways you tweak it. That's flag football stuff, IMO.

The easiest, most logical fix, if you had to change it, is to just eliminate the kick , let the team have 7 points for a TD, don't waste time with the kick that will be made probably over 99% of the time.
And if you want to go for 2, you lose the automatic point, and get either 6 or 8 points depending on if you convert.
This would be the best "change". Of course, the only thing you would accomplish is save a few seconds watching the kick. You didn't really affect the game at all.
So, if the objective is to speed up the game by a minute or two, then fine. You've accomplished your objective. More than likely, you had no real objective to start with and are "fixing" something that really isn't broken.

Leave it be. The extra point is there to keep a difference between scoring a touchdown and scoring two field goals. It emphasizes the importance of touchdowns in the game. There's no need to take it away and put in something else more difficult. Keeping the extra point how it is is also more likely to result in a higher number of overtime games compared to going for 2 every time. Teams will take the given point and end up with even scores, instead of having to go for two and more than likely one team will not get it

The only thing that needs to be fixed is the commercial before and after. The TD/commercial/XP/commercial/kick off/commercial sequence is brutal if you're watching the game in real time.
