He knew it too
He did. He loved the cameras and the attention. A true super horse if there ever was one.

Why would they not weigh it?
Most famous horse ever, but we'll just give it the old eyeball test....heart is...22 pounds?
This has always baffled me.

Secretariat is greatest "athlete horse" - like Bo Jackson akin to football - but Citation is the greatest all-around horse - akin to Rice or Walter Payton.
I love Secretariat as much as anyone but it's sort of sad that he overwhelmingly overshadows other great horses who had far better careers and were worked harder on the track.
Citation was handicapped so much in his races...weighing him down with extra weight and he still produced. But he's been forgotten because it was too long ago.

The reasons Sham was drilled were a)the pace fried him; it didn't fry Secretariat. The rail excuse is ridiculous. b)Shame had run 2 extremely trying races in a row against Secretariat and didn't have much left for the Belmont.

Were horse steroids prevalent and not tested for doing that time period, because they say the same things about Secretariat that they said about Lance Armstrong.

Drugs were prevalent among all horses...for a long time...forever.
So who gives a shite?
Humans, horses...everyone has been looking for an advantage since forever...and everyone at the elite level is in on it. So weightlifting, CFB, NFL, Cycling, etc...the playing field is level. This isn't the 1940's - PED's in all forms aren't a secret. Most everyone competing at a high level - has some juice going on.
Secretariat's secret was his huge heart and strange mind - horse ran a race like human on his own w/o the jockey. Horse was more than a horse.
William Nack once said...
"A plane flew over and I was looking at Secretariat and he looked up and watched and followed a plane fly over him like a human...I've never seen a horse do that."

I was just curious to know the extent. I'm not passing judgment on it.
