I mean, it's pretty clearly American football. Even if you don't like soccer, you have to admit that the name "football" is pretty dumb in the case of American style football.

Id argue that rugby is still more violent. the whole no pads no helmet thing. Id probably win that argument too

And you call yourself a football fan. Football isn't named so because it is kicked with a foot. It is called football because it is played on foot.

Just because you are ignorant of why something got it's name, making a stupid statement doesn't make it better.

Actually, you'd be wrong. American football developed from rugby and other similar forms of football. The name comes from the fact that the game was very inclusive of kicking. American footballs used to look like rugby balls, but the proliferation of the forward pass caused changes to the ball.

Fun Fact: Soccer was a term coined by British school kids from the term "association football" which was used to differentiate the sport from "union football" aka rugby.

About what?

The link says:

quote:

Now British school boys of the day liked to nickname everything, which is still somewhat common. They also liked to add the ending “er” to these nicknames. Thus Rugby was, at that time, popularly called “Rugger”. Association Football was then much better known as “Assoccer”, which quickly just became “Soccer” and sometimes “Soccer Football”.
