They have to play the #1 rush defense (Stanford) next week.

Marioti was unreal last night - this guy should be going to New York if Klein is going...Oregon has a bonafide stud passer for the first time...but yeah, the overall vibe of the team is starting seem rattled.

Some decent D's lay ahead for the Ducks - assuming of course, they don't have to play the broken levee that is USC.

Thomas was just as good a passer IMO but Mariota is a MUCH better ballhandler, runner and has better pocket presence.

A team like ND/KSU would be a tough matchup IMO.

I don't think ND would be, not impressive against BC and it was a big to do on Saturday night.

The top teams in the conference have a legit 8 man rotation on the d-line.

When we say top teams are we talking about the Georgia team that ranked 36th in the nation in Rushing yards allowed per game including giving up 23 to Buffalo (not the Bills), and 3 straight games in the SEC where they gave up 44 against a Tennessee team who still hasn't won a conference game, 35 against SC and 24 against Kentucky......another winless SEC team.

Or could we be talking about Bama who's played against 1 good QB all year yesterday who gashed them. Yes the same A&M team that runs a similar offense to Oregon except Oregon's is 10 times better.

And C'mon South Carolina gave up 44 to a FLorida team that has no offensive identity.

Got some news for ya...

Oregon>>>>>>>>>> A&M

Do you not remember A&M giving up 57 to Tech?

You know A&M had 4 defensive starters out for that game and only played 17 total players on D, right?

It's not like giving up 51 points when you have all your starters in, or giving up 30+ to Arkansas State. I mean, who does THAT?

Oregon d sucks. Not much more to say about it honestly. Funny how people depend their team when they give up 50 saying the d is good just injuries. LSU has had more injuries than anyone and they are still stout

Is it just me or do the Oregon fans here do an awful lot of unprompted explaining?

Seems like they start quite a few threads with essays explaining certain aspects of their team

A lot has been said about how they have a small d-line.

I would like to mention that Oregon's entire starting defensive line is injured.

The two are related. the small guys might get the job done for awhile with scheme and effort but over time the pounding takes its toll. This is why no one really respects the ducks they can't hang with the big boys.

Shitty D against PAC-12 offenses. National championship, right?

I don't see Oregon beating Kansas State if it comes to it. Klein would fricking shred Oregon's D at full strength, and their own D isn't too shabby.

This year, honestly, it could happen. Last night a poster in the Oregon-Cal game thread asked the question of when the last time was that a national champion had given up 50+ points in regulation as if that automatically disqualified Oregon.

Fact is, if they draw a match-up against a team whose D can't slow Oregon's offense enough to outscore them, they have a realistic shot at it.

Shitty D against Because of PAC-12 offenses

Originally that made no sense.

Pac-12 offenses are far from shitty. Screen passes, simple H.S. out patterns, and running up the gut aren't staples of a great offense and aren't staples of the Pac 12's offensive creativity...or lack thereof:) - those belong to the conference with great D's - am i right? The varied offenses, pro passing and spread...makes the D's look worse.

LSU fans may be jealous but it's a fact that Oregon's defense is not any great shakes. I also think they have played the weakest schedule of the unbeatens by far and are only ranked #1 because of their name. What is Oregon's signature win? USC? Arizona? Pretty weak. To this point, the other unbeatens have proven more and have played tougher schedules by a good margin.

Oregon's best defense is their offense. They put up so many points on their opponents so quickly that they're basically forced to become one dimensional on offense and throw out whatever gameplan they had.

Before Bama played LSU what was their signature win?

Cal was running great against Oregon's D when it was a 3 point game in the 1st half.

Once Oregon turned the game in a 1 minute 14 point swing...Cal went to straight passing and going for it on 4th downs.

Then the game became a blowout.

USC rolled up points and yards because the Trojans couldn't stop the Ducks...and passed on every down...and Oregon can't cover the best player in football along with Robert Woods.
