From Twitter:

"I just received news that old school HBCU Alum and Mr. Raider, Willie Brown has passed. My condolences to the Brown family. A devoted Grambling alum and one of the best DB’s to ever put on a uniform! RIP Willie!"

Had the pleasure to meet him years ago at a football camp. One of the most iconic shots in Super Bowl history is that video of him returning that INT.

Willie Brown loved joking about how he thought he made Oilers as UDFA in 1963 because they had a quota for black players, but believed wrongly it was larger than 5; he was No. 6. Loved this man, one of the nicest, most humble humans I've ever met. Rest easy, my friend. #MrRaider

Yep that's the one I was referencing. The gif of him running and the determination in his face is so awesome.

OLD MAN WILLLLLAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

Excelled for Eddie Robinson and effectively invented the Bump and Run, major innovator as a defensive back. As good as if not better than Deion Sanders, don't @ me.

Cancer
Interesting facts on Willie.... played split end and OLB at Grambling, never played CB. In his illustrious 15 year NFL career, Brown only had 2 Pick 6’s, the most famous one (gifs above) secured the Raiders first SB win.

Brown created the “bump and run” CB playing style after watching John Wooden’s UCLA teams execute the full court press which disrupted offensive players. Willie Brown can arguably be called the first true shut down corner
