It's not even that it's Michigan, the way that they handled this is terrible and shameful.

After the Duke lacrosse rape case, universities have to make sure everything is by the book. Those rape allegations cost Duke millions

Kid was never charged with a crime. Not really sure what your talking about. Seems like somebody informed Brandon and Hoke that this was coming down the pipeline and they sat him a soon as they heard about it.

Coaches can't exactly come out and state the real reason. This isn't a criminal matter which is public record. This is a student record protected by federal law.

No, but you don't lie. He didn't tweak anything and there were no family issues in Florida. "No comment" works well when you can't divulge something.

allegations
This is the key. I'll wait and see how this plays out, but so far what we know is that gibbons was not charged with anything, so this is not a public or criminal matter.

Universities, BY FEDERAL LAW, are obligated to protect the privacy of students. If he were actually charged with rape, the university would have acted differently. And what the frick does Hoke have to do with this?

How convenient that the alleged rape occurred in 2009, and Michigan did nothing to Gibbons or Lewan until their playing careers are over. Classy. Yeah, nothing to see here

Ask Jim Delaney. After all, he says the Big 10 is "held to a higher standard"

So now, 2 of the Big 10 flagship programs have "allegedly" brushed aside rape incidents to protect their football programs, while another flagship had to fire their coach for cheating and was permitted to hired a new coach that harbored a murderer at Florida.

Yeah, classy conference

This is terrible.

But I never expected to see a thread on TD with only big 10 fans going at it.

Michigan student here. This has been expected. The rumors have been going around for awhile, since the beginning of the year, not sure why it's becoming official right now. It is embarrassing right now for the university and football program.

It's also been known here for awhile that lewan is a piece of shite. Some choose to accept it and move on, some choose to live in denial.

Michigan and Hoke keep looking worse and worse over this situation LINK

Imagine the backlash if this happened at Ohio State and it was handled the same way.

Michigan should have sent Gibbons to Akron like Sevon Pittman.

Or they could have just kicked it under the dirt for years while they let their star LT run around campus and threaten the victim

Eta. And I love the comparisons you're using. One where Ohio State took immediate action compared to 4 years of ignorance

Wow. What a terrible way to handle that situation regarding the sexual assault. Letting the pos play after the investigation found him responsible is bad enough, but then to obviously intentionally misinterpret the privacy laws to try to shield the school's mishandling of the situation is just cowardly. They deserve all the criticism they get on this one.

he did not play in the last two games of the regular season. While this is surely an embarrassment, there is nothing that can be done against the university, so you and the rest of your spartan friends can stop obsessing.

It happened in 2009, dumbass. Additionally, your boy Taylor Lewan harassed the victim in this case.

Yeah, nothing to see here but a big stinking pile of scUM.

And both the police and University investigated and didnt find enough evidence to move forward. It wasn't until the University changed its policy that they had enough evidence to expel Gibbons.

Allegedly. The name of the person who harassed the victim is blacked out on the police report.
