Honestly, UNC makes it tough for me to leave them out because they just look really good right now. The problem is I KNOW Ohio State can win it all. They have the talent and, gun to my head, if you put them in the playoffs I think they will win it.

That's why I have trouble leaving Ohio State out of it.

I agree. The playoff is supposed to determine the four best teams, not the four most deserving. I don't think UNC is even close to being one of the four best teams. They've had a great season and they are playing great football against their schedule, but I don't think they could beat anyone in the top six, except maybe Iowa. Even that isn't something I'd bet on. If they do somehow make it in, they are going to get blown out in the first round and it will be a wasted spot that should have gone to a better football team.

If Bama loses by 1 (somehow), do you think they should still be in the playoffs?

I may be wrong, but they are pretty down the list on the Sagarin/FPI/SOS rankings.

Yeah, but add in a win over Michigan State... might be a different story.

Winner of that game is going to get in, almost certainly.

Yep. We can thank Alabama for that language.

In my opinion, it just comes down to how the UNC game goes. If Clemson comes out sleepwalking again and UNC squeaks by, I don't know if I want UNC in.

If Clemson shows up to play and UNC beats them, then frick it. Let the Tarheels in.

Honestly, Iowa would have to completely blow the doors off of Michigan State for me to put them in over Ohio State.

No. Their wins are getting worse by the fricking second. Their best win right now is over Mississippi State or LSU. Yikes.

That makes no sense at all.

Iowa would be 13-0, conference champion, and proved itself again by beating the only team to beat tOSU.

I know. I've watched Iowa this season. They look well coached. They got some good players. I just don't see them as a playoff team. I know it's not fair. But, hey, at least I'm not the one making the decision.

Have they said that before?
If so, then the playoffs should be
Ohio State
Michigan
USC
Notre Dame

no one can determine who the four best teams are on paper.

I thought that was the language or consideration certain schools fought to keep in. *cough cough*

I don't disagree, but I don't think there's any argument for some teams.

I agree. And I'm a UNC fan.

If they make it in, it will be because they beat the #1 team in the country. You think that if they beat #1 Clemson they don't stand a chance against any of the other teams?

That's why I said it depends on how the game goes. Clemson has looked HORRIBLE defensively on the back end of the season. I would not be the least bit surprised if UNC lights them up.

I don't think so, because I don't think Clemson is the best team in the country. I could always be proven wrong, but I see something similar to Florida State's loss last year. It might even be worse if they have to play Oklahoma. I don't think either ACC team will win in the playoff, but like I said, I could be wrong.

No. Florida is terrible. A loss to Florida automatically puts them out.

Well yeah exactly. they'd be out, because they wouldn't be deserving...Not because all of the sudden they're no longer one of the four best teams.

In my opinion, 3-way tie with Ohio State, OU, and Sparty.

Edge to Oklahoma at this point, but I really do think that if you put Ohio State in the playoffs they will win it.
