How is playing NCA&T and Delaware that much different from playing Hawaii and Western Michigan?

The scheduling here was done for money purposes only. The two schools UNC scheduled probably didn't ask for as much money to get their arse's beat like the two schools OSU played, but the results were the same for all 4 schools.

NC A&T's only loss this season was to UNC, until they got upset this past week.
Hawaii is 3-10

Who cares if a team scheduled an FCS team, especially an in-state one.

Winner of Clemson-UNC should be in
Winner of Iowa-MSU should be in
Oklahoma is in
Alabama is in with a win, if they lose then it's OSU getting in.

There is absolutely no way a 2 loss team should get in the playoff, this year.

There's a huge difference. The level of competition isn't even close. Western Michigan and Hawaii didn't have a great chance to knock off Ohio State, but they had a much better chance than NC A&T or Delaware would have. The numbers have been posted several times already.

Maybe, but that doesn't give UNC a pass for scheduling two FCS schools.

The committee has already stated that they care.

Tonight will give a little more clarity as to what the committee thinks about UNC and Stanford.

What do you think is more important to the committee, winning your conference or scheduling FCS schools?

I posted in the other thread that if they're comfortable leaving out the conference champion UNC. Why would 11-1 tOSU get the nod over 12-1 Clemson? With a close loss to UNC, Clemson would have a better résumé than Ohio State.

While UNC's overall résumé isn't great, the committee can hide behind the "conference champion" label.

I think they are both important, and I have no idea what the committee will think is more important. They've already set a precedent though by continuously ranking UNC low. They also made a very clear statement about weak OOC schedules last season. There is just too much going against UNC, and very little go for them.

I'd agree that there is a much better debate to be had for Clemson over Ohio State, than UNC. They won't put Clemson in over a team they just lost to though. Same reason a Michigan State loss would likely eliminate Ohio State, regardless of what else happens.

I'm not sure how this thread is still going considering a Buckeye is propping it up. If UNC isn't in with a win, there is no way OSU goes over Clemson. There is no metric that would give OSU the nod over Clemson.

That being said, UNC would go before the two of them because the committee will opt for the champion. Additionally, UNC's resume with a win over Clemson would be as good as Ohio State IMO, with a conference championship to boot.

That's why that triangle of death favors UNC, in a fricked up kind of way.

- We can't put UNC, look at that schedule.
- Yeah forget that conference championship, let's go with Ohio state.
- ok guys if we're going to ignore the conference championship, Clemson has a slightly better résumé...Let's go with them
- but shite we can't do that and leave out the team that just beat them in the championship game. Might as well go with UNC, we'll busy say the conference championship have them the tiebreaker.

boom!

If Clemson loses to UNC and Michigan State beats Iowa, then my Final Four would look like more like a Final Four Basketball bracket.

1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Michigan State
4. UNC

That's just wild. I also wouldn't mind seeing Ohio State in over UNC.

If both Michigan State and Clemson lose, then:

1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Ohio State
4. UNC

Sagarin has Ohio State at #3 right now with Clemson at #4. Massey has Clemson #3 and Ohio State at #4. Right or wrong, Clemson would probably drop with a loss to UNC while Ohio State won't unless Michigan State loses. That doesn't mean Ohio State would be a lock, but it does make it a lot closer than you imply.

There's another metric that will never be stated, but certainly is looked at on some level. Ohio State had the three highest rated games of the season and four of the top ten.

It will be interesting to see how everything goes. As I've said many times, I see Alabama and Clemson winning, which will resolve any debate.

Being a rare football-first UNC fan, I am admittedly biased, but no matter what your opinion, it almost gives me chills to even say UNC, football, and playoff in the same sentence the first week in December.

I'd rather see Ohio State beat Alabama again, but Oklahoma will suffice.

I may be wrong, but they are pretty down the list on the Sagarin/FPI/SOS rankings.

Honestly, UNC makes it tough for me to leave them out because they just look really good right now. The problem is I KNOW Ohio State can win it all. They have the talent and, gun to my head, if you put them in the playoffs I think they will win it.

That's why I have trouble leaving Ohio State out of it.
