List of nobodies

Now, he's saying Woods never really beat anyone in his 14 majors. From the Forth Worth Star-Telegram:

Incidentally, there's much more talent at the top (and the bottom) than there was during Tiger's peak years. Tiger beat a lot of nobodies to win most of his majors.

Yeah, there was Phil [Mickelson] and [Ernie] Els around, in and out, but go back and look who was second to him in those majors and tell me where they are now.

Man, Dan Jenkins sure hates him some Tiger Woods lately

I guess the last article Dan wrote about Tiger kind of backfired on him a bit.

He just despises Tiger so he's just saying anything at this point.

Yeah, I thought it was funny though. Here's the list. Not really nobodies across the board for sure.

Here are the 14 runners-up to Woods at the majors, by the way.

Tom Kite, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els and Miguel Angel Jimenez, Ernie Els and Thomas Bjorn, Bob May, David Duval, Retief Goosen, Phil Mickelson, Chris DiMarco, Colin Montgomerie, Chris DiMarco, Shaun Micheel, Woody Austin and Rocco Mediate.

Who was going to match some of Tiger's record breaking rounds?

It's one thing to be average compared to history and win majors. Its another to be exceptional. Were these other golfers going to magically match those records too?

What a bunch of nobodies. It's clear none of them would ever be successful golfers. How were they even allowed on the tour...

He was the baddest golfer on the planet from until 2008. Now he's lost in the sauce.... good riddance Tiger you blew it.

You left out 3 major winners in your list of the runners up: Kite, Duval, and Goosen.

Just to help your argument

Why should the runner up matter? He beat the entire field.

Yeah it's like if some random guy who had the tournament of his life got second and Phil, Ernie, Mcllroy and a bunch of other great golfers rounded out the top 15, it wasn't an impressive victory because the random guy got second. That's poor logic, but that seems to be the norm with this Jenkins guy.

And the course. It's not like those other guys were playing defense.

-18, -11, -12, -19, -18, -16, -12, -3, -12, -14, -18, -18, -8, -1.

He destroyed those courses.

Dan Jenkins was the mother frickin man in his day. But his day was 30+ years ago. He's just a crotchety old dude now. Baja Oklahoma is a solid read.

First of all, here's the actual article.

Bottom line, Jenkins is right and his credibility stems not only from his recognized superiority as a journalist but because he has the perspective of time and an understanding of golf history that so many of Tiger's staunchest supporters lack.

Due mainly to their relative youth, many of the Tiger lovers view golf the way young people view their first forays into sex: they think they are the first ones to discover it.

That list has 5 major champions and Colin Montgomerie and Garcia.

Duval, at one point, was a dominant tour player.

DJ hates Tiger. Not sure why.

Golf fields have never been so deep. The game is better than ever as far as the number of pro golfers who can WIN any event.

Why does every list keep excluding Jim Furyk?
