I only saw a handful of Cowboy games, but it seemed to me Spears got his name called more often this year than previous yrs. Yeah, small sample size, but you tell me, Spears is that much dead weight or is it more about money?

(I know he has been a first round bust fwiw)

Yeah, they do. But its more than taking top talent in the early rounds. You have to build a whole team. Build the trenches. Don't sell your soul for a sexy FA (Roy Williams, for example)

That's where he struggles. Wants to sell jerseys more than win games, imo...

Can't argue with you there. I agree that he needs a GM.

I never get how people that are so rich can make such bad business decisions...is he just totally blind to the fact that he has a team that is basically "him" away from making a lot of noise?

Benson was a huge prick for a long time...but ever since he started just writing checks and letting football guys run his team I have loved that old frick.

The GM isn't the problem. It's the VP of Ops that's the issue. Jerry has made good decisions, it's just Steve in last few years has made bad ones. Steve is more day to day these days.

The areas of need:
OL: especially a Center. If Jones is there between 10-14 you trade up to get him.

OC: let Cal call the damn game.

DL: Depth, like everyone else.

LB: same as above

WR: get someone who can work middle and is reliably healthy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones there at #18. Could probably trade down and still get him if that's who you want.

That's what I want in Dallas. Sit in your box, have people clean your glasses, mug or the cameras, take blow jobs, whatever...

Just get a football guy. Please.

More so than Stevie. You have any idea what you're talking about? The direct decisions that Jerry on player personel lately been involved with have been good. But don't let hate cloud your vision.

I'm not being a homer the player decisions have been solid. The management and coaching decisions very questionable.

Possible Cuts of Note
- Doug Free

I can't imagine a scenario where they keep free, unless he restructures and takes a huge pay cut, which will not happen. I posted it in another thread, his cap hit is either $11 m or $14 m if he's on the roster next year.

They have had off the field issues with Ratliff.. Him and Jerry aren't on good terms. Plus he's always hurt

Always hurt? Before this season he'd missed 2 games in 6 years, and hadn't missed a game from 2008-2011.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him let go because of the issues with Jerry though.

But hell, its part of the game, you never know...

true, but the packers are really the only team who had as many key guys go down. romo aint no rodgers and jerry aint no ted thompson.

that said, i dont feel jerry is as awful a GM as people think either. Roy Williams was obviously one of the worst moves ever, but the cowboys drafts have been far from the some of the worst.

I liked Sean Lee, Bruce Carter and Mo Claiborne picks. If they were healthy, the defense would have been pretty good.

ETA: Demarco was a steal too.

There's one guy out there I think is the hire, Butch. I blame Stevie for this, but who knows? I'm betting they asked him to change something, he said no, they said hand is your keys, fob, cell phone, and phone card.
