He's right and this makes me love Bryce Harper more and more.
You guys should read this article written by John Baker, former Cubs backup catcher, about Anthony Rizzo and Yasiel Puig.

Don't you mean John Baker, current cubs front office employee and designated rain delay guitarist?
That article is certainly worth a read.

Tired is probably the most accurate way to describe baseball right now. Think golf before Tiger.

In pretty sure Cardinal fans still hate Pedro Strop for pumping his fist after a 3rd out strikeout in the playoffs.
When did this happen?
We're fine with showing emotion.

The best thing he does here is challenge the "unwritten rules" as a superstar in the MLB. It is not ok to throw a fastball at someone because they hurt your feelings. That's not being a tough man, it's being a little bitch.

Unwritten rules make baseball a ghey sport

I love the way Cam goes about it. He smiles, he laughs. It's that flair. The dramatic.
...unless things aren't going his way. Then he turns into a little bitch.

Show some excitement but don't be an arse. Pretty simple.

Don't try to injure someone because you got your feelings hurt. It's called being an adult.

How is that just about everyone in this thread agrees with Harper, but in any other thread, Harper seems to be overwhelmingly hated for showing said personality and flair?

It doesn't have to be all or nothing. How about all players be allowed to just be themselves? That won't turn the league into a bunch of players flipping bats and pumping their fists after ground outs. There's always going to be a balance.
There's enough people that have that reserved personality to where you won't lose the ones that "do it the right way."

I don't mind a little emotion and celebration in the game, especially in a big moment, as long as it's not something too ridiculous
Posted on 3/10/16 at 10:30 am to undecided
I mean as long as you're not being a complete a-hole, I agree.
That being said, I completely disagree that Fernandez would be fine with someone David Ortiz'ing up there after hitting one out on him.

Definitely agree that a bat flip doesn't deserve a 90+ mph pitch to the head

I also doubt Harper's ability to be okay with a pitcher getting all fired up after striking him out.

I like baseball the way it is. I don't need to see dancing and show boating like in football.
frick yeah white people, am I right?

Most people aren't as likely to dance or rip their shirts Superman style after a success when the best of them fail 70% of the time.
Actually, most people would be MORE inclined to celebrate success when they fail 70% of the time, but...whatever.
It's like soccer. A lot of soccer games end in 0-0 draws, which is why teams and players celebrate every goal like it saved the human race. Soccer is frickING HARD and scoring a goal at the highest level is REALLY frickING HARD.

I imagine it fires up/pisses them off, but I do believe neither would resort to throwing a fastball or asking his pitcher to throw a fastball at the small of an opponents back.
I don't think anyone is suggesting these guys shouldn't get pissed off. I like harper's mentality of fine, but i'm going to get you next time.
