Bonds is the single greatest hitter ever IMO. It’s criminal that he isn’t in yet. People act like he’s devoid of talent because of steroids. He was proliferating. Can’t say enough good things about him.

Did you see his rookie season?

So people go to the hall based off of their rookie season?

Likely not. He doesn’t have the votes and likely won’t get them in three years. Veterans committee certainly won’t put him in.

I mean, he was a huge prick but other than that he was one of the best players ever, with or without the massive amounts of steroids.

Those years of following his at bats was scary exciting as a kid. Kobe and Bonds were the first two players that would make me lose myself while watching a game and find frustration from them succeeding. Looking back on it, such awe in Bond's talent.

I'm not a baseball fan at all, but I would make a point to watch Barry Bonds at-bats. Most compact, perfect swing I've ever seen. Watching Barry Bonds at-bats was watching greatness of the highest form.

A lot of guys juiced in the steroid era -- I think it's pretty well established that it was a majority of them -- but none of them were on the level of Bonds. Or even close.

STFU, assclown. Look at his career prior to 1999. Assume he retired after that season.

That a HOF career every single day of the week. It's not a close call.

Just for reference, you could go 2-5 with a HR and a walk EVERY GAME, finish with 162 homers and STILL have a lower OPS than Bonds in 2004.

OBP would be 500 and Slugging would be 1 would it not

Still crazy that it’s close

OBP would be .500 and slugging would be .800. So, 1.3.

ETA: no, I think you're right. Slugging would be 1.

I think Bonds is being left out more so because he was a complete a-hole to anyone and everyone in the media. They are paying him back, which is completely stupid in my opinion.

Bonds juiced late to the game because he thought he was becoming an afterthought after the 1998 season.

he was stealing bases going for 30 30. Injury. He started while recovering.
Should have retired then

In his mind, the media was shitty to his dad, and he never forgave them.

Let us also not act as if sports media is some hallowed group. They're mostly just whores like the rest of us.

My issue with them NOT being in the HOF is simple - steroids were NOT illegal in baseball in the 90's when all the numbers started going up like crazy.

So many players were on the juice. And for a number of years baseball ignored it because attendance was up and so was the overall interest in MLB.

Then all of the sudden, MLB decides to right the ship and many of the players are now cursed because of it.

Let's all not act like we wouldn't have done the same thing in their shoes. The money and the fame was too big and soooo many players were doing it.

Bonds, Clemons and Rose are no brainers. Schilling should get in at some point too. But no way do I vote McGwire or Sosa in.

Yes they were, the mlb just didn’t rigorously test for steroids back then but they were still illegal in baseball. Steroids were added to the banned substance list in 1991
