And why should Kevin Durant care what some Joe Schmoe thinks?

An article just came out saying he reads everything people say about him. Whether or not he SHOULD care doesn't have anything to do with the fact that he DOES care. Fact is ALL Of these guys care what people say about them(Lebron has commented more than a few times on naysayers, etc) they are all concerned with their legacy. In these days of social media everyone has a voice. You or anyone else could tweet something about one of these guys and it could get back to them.

What I'm gathering is that he cares about what people think and reads everything posted about him, but when it comes down to making a decision, he doesn't give a shite what those people think. He knew he was going to get bashed for joining the Warriors but did it anyway. It shows a clear lack of caring what other people think.

I think the biggest knock on Russell is that fact that there weren't many teams... Yes he did play with some HOFers but when 6 of the 8 teams make the playoffs it diminishes the results a little bit.

I think these superstars are also EARNING the right to build a team or go to a team. They served their contracts and they are FREE AGENTS. Did you hear of the superteam that is forming up with Raymond Felton? No? Maybe that's because there are only a few players that have earned that status.

KD is a FA and has earned the right to go wherever he wants. Who cares if he is going to the best option to win. Isn't that the goal? I think it makes him and the Warriors the villains and I won't be pulling for them but I don't begrudge him or that team the moves they make.

Another point to make... Barkley was traded to the Rockets. He wasn't a free agent. The Rockets traded Robert Horry and Sam Cassell for Barkley.

So really, this whole argument is moot. Not only was Barkley not a free agent and didn't choose the Rockets, but Hakeem and Drexler were 34 years old and past their prime at the time.

This analogy makes absolutely no sense and it's made by people trying to fit a square peg in a round hole to stick it to Barkley.

you want to promote the irrationality of using team stats to define players' careers? well then players will adapt to that paradigm to increase their shot at a title. you don't get to have it both ways

You can have it both ways if the system is designed to prevent it from happening.

If the max salary was larger (or non-existent) in the NBA, it would be much tougher for players to collude in the way they are now. When every team can pretty much offer the same deal, of course these players focus on other aspects.

Well the msb believes that if Michael Jordan played on the 2015-16 76ers he would have led them to a title bc he's the goat. So super teams or not if you're a stud like mj you could have a giant turd roster and still win a title

Also write an article on the nostalgia crowd whining and bitching about the NBA being boring because one team is too good when their preferred era had two teams max that contended for a title.

Celtics won 8 straight championships in the 60s.
Lakers won 5 championships in 9 years from 80-88 (with Boston winning 3 out of the other 4 championships over that time period) .
Bulls won 6 championships in 8 years in the 90s.

7 different teams have won championships in the last 10 years.

The 80s/90s were better crowd prefers an era where one team did, in fact, dominate the entire league for nearly a decade, but for some unexplained reason, a team that has the potential to dominate the next 5 or so years is an abomination and will ruin the NBA. Fascinating stuff.

Kareem, quietly, behind the scenes forced the Bucks to trade him to the Lakers. Many people don't know about this or have simply forgotten about it. This was well before the days of free agency yet here we had an all time great force his way to a franchise who was consistently known for contending year in & year out.

And?

Wilt ,Baylor & West were long gone as players & the Lakers were 30-52 the season before Kareem arrived and a whopping 40-42 his 1st season( missed playoffs).

And the Kareem led Lakers were relatively mediocre the next 4 or 5 seasons until Magic showed up .

Kareem's issue was as much cultural & not liking Milwaukee as opposed to joining some super team / Champs .

Besides an aging Goodrich I guess Kareem was excited about that 30-52 Lakers super roster of Cassie Russell, Happy Hairston, etc...?

Kareem did nothing like the weak stuff Durant pulled off.

All of those players basically retired within 2 years of forming that geriatric team. It's not the same. They were all in their mid 30s not the prime of their careers.

More hyperbole from hypersensitive young NBA fans.

Not the biggest Jordan fan here, but I know for a fact that after getting spanked by the Celtics & Pistons he 'would NEVER ever willingly join them.

It's called being competive & obsessing over beating that nemesis & not tucking tail & playing with them.

Today in the NBA the players are trying to implement the AAU model where they have all the power and decide who they want to play for/with

Had Lebron won the title in CLE last year with no Kyrie and Love, it would have been seen as a multiple times better series win than the one this year with a hurt Curry and Bogut and Green missing the series clinching game.

Did Green miss the other two series clinching games?

Bogut had some solid minutes, but he was still playing about 10 minutes a game in the finals?

Obviously it would have been more impressive had Lebron won the title in 2015 against a great Warriors team, while he was down 3 starters. Instead he was the far and away best player in the series, put up monstrous numbers, and managed to somehow push it to 6 games.

Is it not impressive enough that he just became the first player to lead a playoff series in all statistical categories, while completing the first 3-1 comeback in NBA finals history, against the winningest team in history? He probably needed to do that down a few starters, right?

The 2 time MVP was reportedly at like 70%, their best rim protector was out, and their leader missed the series clinching game 5. This series win was not all that impressive to me considering the circumstances. Had Lebron beaten them last year it would have been the greatest series win ever imo. No comparison. Anderson Varaejao was playing key minutes in the second half don't act like it was the same GSW team that had set the wins record.

Goldie were playing their worse ball of the season lets be serious the lowly Blazers pushed them a little and OKC Damn near beat them too. Playoff GSW and GSW from round 2 on after the curry injury were not even close to the same team. Maybe 75-80% of the team they were in reg season.
