So what? Obviously it would probably feel better winning a title in a more organic fashion rather than joining a super team. But a ring is better than no ring. There's no way Charles can convince anyone he would rather be sitting there with no titles than win one on a team of superstars

Also, it's an easy stance for them because from what I understand, the salary cap intricacies were different than, and forming super teams like we see today wasn't even really an option.

None of this was possible for many of the players that get brought up for having been "loyal". For instance, Karl Malone played from 84 to 1999 on 2 deals.

Plus, Chuck was lazy, especially on defense. He would have loved to have been in a position to be cozied up with other megastars in their prime, just to take the load off of him.

But there is this thing that started with this new generation where these guys feel so much pressure. Everybody wants to win.

I know it was late in his career and an obvious ring-chasing move, but Karl Malone did play with "some of those other guys" to try and win a championship

I sorta agree with the what he is saying, but it is hilarious that he is saying it when he joined a 2 time NBA champion a year after they won.

I don't love the superstar teams. I do think it is bad for basketball as a whole to have 3 teams that can really compete any given year

Absolutely true. Lebron going to MIA made it OK for guys to team up and shirk the call to all time greatness that could come with leading a non super friend team to titles.

Shut up.

You ignore KG, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen teamed up years earlier to win a title because you want to blame LeBron for everything

Well that team was formed via trades.

But his point was stupid because the Rockets and Lakers both tried super teams before the Celtics and Heat.

Nope, none of these guys was in the GOAT conversation.

Pretty sure KG had a no trade clause, so in essence, there's no real, tangible difference.

It's a little different signing Malone and Payton on their last legs than it is to join up with 2 other players who are top 4 in PER.

Barkley forced his way out of Philly to a ready-made, 53-win Suns teams before he joined Kevin Willis on a 2-time champion (a yr removed).

Yea, getting together in their primes makes more sense and creates a better opportunity to win, that's the only tangible difference.

Fair point

In order for owners to protect themselves, they shortened deals. This just means that players will have more opportunities to change teams.

Better opportunity to win sure, but at the same time makes the titles worth less if you're talking about all time rankings. Hey you can make a super team to win titles, but those titles won't be seen on the same level as titles won not on super teams. That's just the way it is.

Had Lebron won the title in CLE last year with no Kyrie and Love, it would have been seen as a multiple times better series win than the one this year with a hurt Curry and Bogut and Green missing the series clinching game.

No logical person is discounting Lebron's titles, no one.

No one, other than trolls, care already about Lebron's 2 MIA titles, even less will care 20 years from now.

It will not matter...at all.

So true. No one that's not insane cares how you won, just that you won. Especially as more time passes

When you are talking about best of the best it matters. Lebron will never eclipse Jordan because he won his titles on a super team.
