Johnson is a great coach. Don't underestimate what he did at Navy with the restrictions the military has on weight.

Now that he has his system rolling in ATL and the players believing in it, I think GT is about to go on a run. He'll have a top 3 caliber ACC team most years. He has some good young athletes now,and he's proved at Navy that he doesn't even need the same level as athletes to beat you with his system.

He's going into his 8th year there. If it didn't happen before on a regular basis I don't see it starting now.

They have the perfect QB for that system. The defense is the question imo. But with that schedule I think GT has a chance to make a run.

Pretty much. We could be a better team yet have a worse record (9-3/8-4).

Go 12-0/11-1 and win the ACC (while not likely, is certainly possible) and it could really be a special season. Gotta get through that schedule first though.

Tougher schedule plus added expectations.

GT loses to Georgia Southern last year if not for a blatant blown call by the referees. They should have lost to UGA if not for getting a few quirky breaks and a badly mismanaged game to Richt (although they won the game and should be treated as such.) I dont know....they have a pretty good squad. I'll say 9 wins, which is really nothing to sneeze at. I think Willie Fritz (Georgia Southerns current coach) runs a much more capable offense week in and week out than Paul Johnson. It's a modified triple option/spread concept.

7-5 or 8-4

Losses to ND, Clemson, FSU, Georgia, and probably a surprise loss somewhere else in that daunting coastal division.

He's lasted longer than I predicted. I really thought last year was the do or die year. If he can find niche players that fit his system he can turn some heads, but in no way form or fashion do I see them making it to the playoffs.

Until they run for 50 yards a game. The triple lindy wishbone option is still cool to watch. It's very difficult to prepare for that type of offense with a week to prepare. PJ is good for 8 wins a year. That's respectable.

by TheWalrus They have arguably the best QB at running the system they have ever had. It's about the defense imo. They have been very average the past few years.

I thought they should have thrown the bank at Muschamp.

Eta: I bought season tickets and am excited to watch them this year. In 15 years in ATL I've never been to a game there. So their expectations have this SEC out of towner on their bandwagon!

We don't beat U(sic)GA nearly enough but we beat them last time we played - nanner nanner nanner.

This is the first QB he's had that really fits. Maybe now that it's been shown he can find one there finding the next one won't take so long.

Agreed, but who else is going to run the ball this year?

You guys lost a lot of depth at B and A Back, correct?

Best Case - 11-1
Worst Case - 7-5

I think they beat Clemson and one of VT/FSU. Probably lose to Duke after a huge win at Notre Dame (still not buying the ND hype this year).
