I really think ppl are selling a lot of the Dream Team short as to where they were athletically in 92.

Mullin,Pippen,Ewing and Jordan were all Top 10 in minutes played and over +3000.

yea. Honestly I want a guy like Stockton as my PG on an all star team like this, not Russell Westbrook. Guys like Westbrook and Harden will shoot you out of games. They don't know their roles

you want guys like CP3 or Curry who can play within themselves, and are just as good of scorers than the 2 listed above. There's a reason Coach K gave CP3 all the minutes at PG on team USA

Remember the uproar that Kidd caused in 08 on this board?

Kidd is undefeated in international play and this entire board stated he should not have started or been on the team. It was comical at times. You cant roll out an all star team and win games. Team USA in almost every sport has learned that lesson.

Much like the Wilson Flynn arguments in the preseason.

Which is why I mentioned them as my PG's way back on like page 2 of this thread.

I actually listed Westbrook as a possibility at the 2.

Russ is underrated as a distributor though. He has been absolutely deadly in the pick and roll this year.

Yeah I'd take Westbrook as a 2 on a team like this. That's what he played in the All-Star game when he went off.

In my theoretical lineup I had him playing alongside Westbrook. Would give him the chance to play off the ball at times.

92 team had the best PG of all time, the best basketball player of all time, and vastly superior 4/5 options.

Westbrook is fast. Guess what, so were Gary Payton and Kevin Johndon. Stockton banged heads with GP and KJ. He is being criminally under rated in this thread. So much fail in this thread.

How about this... the 1996 Olympic team with Shaq, David Robinson, Hakeem, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Pippen, Reggie Miller, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, etc. only beat Brazil 98 to 75. 23 points. Here is Brazil's roster:

Ratto
Tonico
Josuel
Caio
Olivia
Caio da Silveira
Ferraciu
Pipoka
Janjao
Oscar Schmidt
Rogerio
Wilson Minucci

Brazil gave up 94.6 ppg that tournament, and Dream Team II only mustered 98.

If they only beat those nobodies by 23 in the quarter finals and only scored 98 points, I have no doubt LeBron, Durant, Harden, Curry, AD, etc. would have a field day.

You are cherry picking games. So does that mean that I could hypothetically cherry pick a supposed game where your group only wins by 23 to a team?

I believe it was the first game of the knockout stage, a quarter.

Why are you comparing Harden and Westbrook? Harden does not shoot his team out of games. He has one of the highest TS% in the league and is a very efficient scorer.

Westbrook is not a very efficient scorer and takes way more shots than Harden.

Russ is taking 23.1 fga per 36 compared to 17.6 for Harden.

17.6 would be the 2nd lowest amount of FG's taken in Westbrook's career, whereas it's the highest for Harden.

One thing that would make it bit interesting is the 3 point line. The amount of 3's our recent US teams have taken per game dwarf the amount they took back then.

Good point. The 3pt explosion against Nigeria in the last Olympics is something that no team ever would beat. That was a team full of great shooters and it seemed like they were all on fire.

See: Rocket's last 2 playoff series.

He's up and down. For instance, he shot 41% in the first 25 games this year. The next 25 he shot 49%.

then can go through a stretch like his last 8 games where he shoots a combined 36%fg & 30% 3pt.

Or the terrible playoffs he's had the last 2 years when he shoots a combined 38%.

He's extremely volatile. His TS% will always be solid, because he shoots 10 FT's a game at a high rate. That's his 1 saving grace.

38 year old Oscar Bezerra Schmidt put up 26 against them.

LeBron could have gotten anything he wanted.

how does this logic even make sense in someone's head?

btw oscar schmidt was awesome. He's in every basketball HOF that matters. He averaged 28PPG over 5 different summer olympics.

You picked out 8 games. No player is consistent from game to game through a whole season.

He's no more volatile than anybody else.
