Let's exclude pharma/med device

I asked this on the OT lounge and it was immediately brought up. I'm fairly familiar with both.

Depends how good you are. If you can really sell, and few can, insurance sales can bank you some serious cash, especially supplemental.

I'm pretty good. Have a resume to show it. Certainly don't want to do insurance, though.

The tech side seems to be taking over and here for the long haul. If you can get in with a good company there is lots of money to be made. May have to move West.

What industry are you currently in and why are you looking to leave it?

Enterprise rent-a-car. They have a great corporate structure and they give you the tools to be your own boss.

Senior housing sales with the option of moving into upper management based upon your performance.

All of us will age and will develop needs that must be met.

Enterprise technology. My firm sells trading systems to hedge funds and the sales guys do very well. In my experience, the entire FinTech industry is in a massive boom right now and almost everyone is hiring.

I see these jobs posted all the time and I know you're in the field or a related sector. Just not sure how lucrative it is...plus I see you work crazy hours

True, but sometimes you have to work a little more than you planned than a little less than you should.

It's part of my company's culture however there are other companies in this same industry than provide a better work | life balance. With turnover being around 60 percent at my company, my "tenacity" or just plain stupidity has awarded me the opportunity to get promoted 3 times within 5 years.

technology sales is a gold mine. You don't need experience to do it. I know all the major tech players are almost always hiring sales reps.

And you can probably work where you live.

Mediocre reps can easily make $250k. Great reps can clear millions (in a year).

the one thing is they burn through reps pretty quickly the two major players I am familiar with have 50%+ of the reps quit in a year.

I am an overlay that helps reps, and its a tough job but can be very lucrative. The trick is to get a product that works, in a vertical that needs it.

Why such a high burnout rate? Just extremely long work hours?

Also...pardon my ignorance but who are the major players?

Big time commodity account reps kill it around here.

I've got a few buddies under 35 that clear around 150K and basically take people out to drinks, play golf and make sure orders keep coming in.

Probably pretty similar to tech stuff or pharm sales..
