Need a small, short term loan. Any suggestions for where to get one?

So long story short, I'm moving to Dallas for the summer and LSU is paying for it, however, they will not disburse the money until a week or so after I move. I need the money far in advance so I can put down a deposit and pay my first months rent.
I need only about $1,000 (I have some money saved). My family cannot afford to give me any and I don't borrow that much money from friends. Does anyone know of any local places in BR that you would suggest to get this amount for a loan? I've never considered borrowing money on line but I will consider that as well. I'd pay it all back as soon as I get my funding from school.
Thanks

A credit union. Or sofi will do a personal loan.

I'll look into Sofi now. Thanks

I'd try Campus Federal.

Why can't you use a credit card?

Open a credit card, you won't even need the money for a month, so you can have it paid off before you incur interest

I'll second that. I got a $1,500 personal loan in college from them to start building credit. All it took was my signature and I was on my way. If you don't have any credit at all, keeping it open for 6 months or until you get a credit card might be a good idea.
ETA: SoFi also tends to have rather strict lending criteria, which includes a preference for college grads. Other online lenders have origination fees that will make the effective rate pretty crazy if its only for a month.

Why don't you get a credit card with an intro APR?
Discover, AmEx, Chase and Citi all offer these cards (12,15,15 and 21 months, 0% APR respectively)

Will I be able to get a $1,000 limit?
Posted on 4/16/16 at 12:48 pm to oncealurker
Unsure. Discover, for instance, might start you with a $500 limit as of a few years back. Capital One, from what I'm told, is pretty stingy with credit limits as well.

Better chance with Chase, AmEx and Citi than others. Especially if you have had any other CCs. What is your credit score?

He would probably need to do a cash advance, and the intro apr might not apply to that.
Eta: Nevermind, there are ways around that.

Ever heard of a bank, credit union, loan shark?
Probably should stay away from loan sharks but why is this a question?

He's a kid. Unfortunately, nobody teaches personal finance in school so you have to seek knowledge.

True. You can actually directly pay your taxes with a CC at a 1.87% fee. This translates to $18.70 for a month or an annualized 22.47%. May not be the best option, but the easiest for sure. If you get the Freedom Unlimited you will actually get $150 back as a bonus for meeting the minimum spending. I would do this if you were never planning on getting this anyway because then you can look at this as you coming out on top and ignore the $18.70 fee.
But if somewhere down the line you would've gotten it anyway and If you don't want to swallow that 22.47% pill, you can always do the CFCU "signature loan." Although it does require a little more than just your signature now. But still the easiest and quickest loan to get as it is aimed at students ("thin files") who are trying to build credit.

We've all been in this boat at one point or another. Or most of us have
