$28B today, currently not profitable, and questionable solar city deal now. Do you see 35x upside for this company within the next decade? Its a fascinating company to me, but its so heavily subsidized and I just dont see how the other car makers are completely ignoring electric if its going to be so big.

So if Tesla reaches worth of $1 Trillion, how much debt will the US reach at that point? $670 Trillion??

lmao i think the subsidies end soon i read somewhere at 200,000 or 250,000 cars made

speaking of forward thinking companies have any of you heard of Intrexon? XON? There was this major fund manager forgot his name, he was on CNBC saying it was his top pick for the next decade and it was like buying microsoft when they started writing software back in the day and it took off it went from $30 to like $70 in a couple months after he said that and disclosed his stake. I always kept an eye on it and its $24 now and im curious about if it may be time to dive in. Sounds like they work on a lot of quirky things but i dont really grasp it.

Damn, I wish I could go on CNBC and spout nonsense about my positions and then have them double in value. Also, XON appears to be founded in 1998, so not exactly "the beginning".

I'm scared to ask what inflation would be like once they hit a trillion.

Was it Bill Ackman?

Just kidding. Yeah I've heard of them, they are trying to play the zika fear right by genetically modifying mosquitos.

Like most bio, it's a crapshoot to whether they'll produce anything worth a shite. Or better yet, get acquired.

Interesting to note that SPSIBI (bio index) is up over 4% today, yet XON is barely green.

Here's the link....bill miller, googled him, hes pretty big time. Says this intrexon is his pick for stock of the decade pretty bold call. I looked up the website it sounds like jurassic park shite. They have these genetically modified salmon, apples that dont go brown, genetically modified mosquitos that attack and kill the bad ones and other stuff its out of my realm lol

whats intrigiuing with xon that always kept me interested was the CEO is a legit forbes billionaire from previous ventures and he owns like 70% of the stock and was featured in wired which is my favorite tech magazine, recently....the thing is i dont think its a biotech its just a science lab they some synthetic oils and stuff for the energy sector and then some artificial bull semen and whatnot i just dont grasp it all

ts website—dna.com—lists its many projects and partnerships in addition to the mosquitos, salmon, and apples. Microbes that create diesel fuel? Check. Engineered cells that fight cancer? Check. Pet cloning? Check. Art made with living microbes? Uhh, check.

Definitely sounds interesting and "the way of the future", but I have to say, people right now seem to be against GMOs. So it's good that is not you're typical biotech play, but perhaps the market isn't ready?

Worth keeping on the radar. I've just never really invested in a bio before. I'll trade the 3x ETFs if I have the time, but haven't ever invested in bio.

Pet cloning could be big business for sure. Seriously. People are obsessed with their pets.

Of course there is going to be crazy regulatory hurdles, but yeah, it appears we've find the real life John Hammond.

ya but whats nuts is the market cap is already $3B even with it down 60% off its highs. I know the market is a forwarding thinking instrument and thats why it has its valuation but thats staggering for a company with no real net income. I mean I obviously feel better about it than some $50-100m microcap but $3B valuation needs some serious money to support it.

Yeah, it's definitely valued for the future. How far into the future, nobody really knows. That's the risk here. Which is why I've always been so leery to invest in bio in general. They could have the greatest ideas and visions, but at the end of the day earnings do matter. Will be an interesting follow, and perhaps I'll grab a few shares one day.

In this context it seems he's saying the combined power of Tesla and Solar City? What's interesting is the deal stands to make Elon very wealthy. Seems almost like a confilct of interest?

SpaceX is what is going to make Elon Musk a Trillionaire. They're so far ahead of their competition in terms of tech, consistency and costs it's a shoo in.

The staggering-and I do mean staggering-margins he will see from SpaceX would allow him to fuel Tesla and Solar City without them turning a profit for as long as Bezos with Amazon.

SpaceX is to Elon Musk as the Solomon's Mines were to the son of David.

when people say tesla wont turn a profit, I admit Im not to knowledgable on their financials but aren't electric cars infinitely simpler to build than an internal combustion engine vehicle? Like when this gigafactory is up and running wont build costs drop drastically and margins expand?

I know tesla has a ton of bears but im intrigued musk, bezos, zuckerberg, the google founders.....its hard to bet against those guys
