Transfer fee kills the value of any skypesos you may want.

If I had the 240k Skymiles I'd just use them to get bumped to 1st class everytime

Yo, hoping you see this. I'm heading to Cedar Point Thursday and land in Cleveland at noon. Flights were booked with points so thread relevant.

We were thinking of going to Cleveland Browns practice but it's on Wednesday so no Manziel for us. Indians are out of town as well. We have to get to Sandusky later on in the day, but would kill a few hours in Cleveland if there is something to do not named the
R&R Hall of Fame.

Any suggestions even though you're in VA these days/may not know a thing about Cleveland? It's my best friend and I. Thanks

ETA: yall should jump on the new public United offer of 50k + 5. Great to use with Chase UR.

When applying, do you get better offers if you wait for something in the mail or are they the same offers you can find online?

It all depends.

Sometimes the best offer available is available online for everyone.

Sometimes it's online but the link is "floating" around or you have to do some trick to get it to show up.

Sometimes you get emailed directly by being a member of a rewards program. For example, Southwest and United have given me good offers that matched any previous best public offers even though I don't spend a ton with them at all.

Lastly, very specific offers targeted to "high rollers."

I follow blogs and twitter to determine this so I apply only at the optimum times.

Ya, United probably isn't all that great, but my miles with them aren't being used to fly them very far, usually just a domestic connect, and I find most airlines to be basically the same for two hours.

Now if I was a first class baller, I'd probably bitch about the type of nut they give for snacks or whatever those people complain about.

I've seen people complain for the Flight Attendants eating the Delta cookies... They equated it to them stealing office supplies

Some people will find anything to complain about

I really don't have many suggestions for Cleveland. Haven't been there in a long time. You may want to drive down to Canton to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

What do you mean great to use with UR? Can't combine them correct? Or are you just referring using united miles for travel and then whatever else with the UR's?

I have been to Europe twice now and both times I used an employees buddy pass and got to fly there and back in first class and just had to pay taxes (~$200)... so needless to say Delta has my loyalty for life

Ya I figured. But worth the try and worth avoiding the OT to ask you. Thanks. I'll have to Google Canton distance and all that.

Chase UR points transfer into United. So 55k United points, transfer in 5x from Chase is RT Europe ticket for example.

Ok, I thought you were referring transferring United miles to UR...that would be nice as I have quite a few I'd like to use other places.

This may have been discussed in the thread, but I'm just curious to know what the best reward you have ever received from a rewards card. Have you saved up a ton of points for a big trip, an item, cash back, etc? What's the best reward you've ever gotten from a card?

Amex at one point (may still be) was offering 100K points for their business platinum, that is the best reward I have seen.

Is it chase that offers the 5x at Office Depot? That is damn good too.

They still are but it's a targeted offer. I'm hoping that mailer hits me soon.

I bought two first class tickets to St. Lucia from the skymiles I earned last year for a peak travel week.

Saved me $3500

Most points from one signup bonus: Chase Ink Bold 60,000 UR points.

I've booked a bunch of travel this year, probably about $5k worth and paid under $1k for them. Destinations being 2 people to Boston (twice for weddings), 2 x Cleveand to Cedar Point, 2 X San Fran, 1 X Miami, and 2 X Spain.

My biggest reward redemption will probably come up in 2015, as I'm planning a Thailand/Cambodia honeymoon for Dec., and as of now Starwood would cover about 6/7 nights already for hotels, and the plane tickets will probably be business one way, economy the other.

Unlike some travel bloggers, I don't have 6 weeks vacation to put together some crazy Round the World trip, even though I know how to do it.

That's unbelievable - what cards do you have that helped you make that happen?
