Is this for real? I know I'm seeing this places but this sounds pretty huge to me

Looks like I need to look into SW companion pass RD2 in 2018 + accumulate some more points

Is the priority lounge access a great benefit?

I can only speak to my use of this benefit so far. We usually book business awards internationally so lounge access isn't an issue.

My wife has CSR and she was able to guest me into the lounge in Lima no problem. The clubs can have varying rules on if they'll allow a guest. Alternatively, if you all both big travelers, an AU on the CSR gets Priority Pass club access as well.

Yeah, I just don't know if the lounge access will ever really be used. I get 2 United club passes every year and barely even use them. I guess if you have a long layover it would be nice, but that's a pretty rare occurrence.

Ya, I rarely have time on domestic legs. It usually occurs if it is the type of trip where 1) traffic to the airport can be especially bad/unpredictable around my flight time so I leave super early or 2) so busy that even precheck lines may be full or 3) a notoriously poorly run airport.

That just doesn't happen more than once a year maybe. Most times I'm arriving all of an hour before the flight departs and most connections are very long either.

But its clutch as heck when international departures are in the middle of the night.

My capital one Quicksilver got skimmed and someone spent $850 at Walmart. My credit limit got reduced by 850. fricking bullshite. It's my first card so my limit is still low, so with the 850 reduction, it's like a waste of time now. Had the card for like 5 months and my income is high. Should I apply for another card? No idea how long my credit limit will stay lowered.

The Quicksilver is a weak card to begin with. Go hit up a Chase Freedom Unlimited, and once you have that, come back and we'll run from there.

maybe this question has been answered before. I tried to search.

I just got the Chase Sapphire. Is there anyway to easily tell how close you are to the 4000 dollar sign up bonus other than adding up all your statements and stuff?

You can call them and let them figure it out.

Yeah it sucks, I'm closing it out soon. The Amex Blue Cash Preferred and the regular Freedom (5% categories) look dope and should hold me over til CSR

Don't do that. Just leave it open for aging.

Hey there teddy. Still in the game I see. Ha. I've been on the back burner and busy as hell.

Waiting till Jan 1. Will have both my wife and I under the 5/24 rule on January 1. Pretty excited about that. Going to hit chase hard again. Will hit Citi pretty hard about 6 months later.

Got the British airways card for the 100k points with $20k spend. Debating whether or not I should even bother with putting the extra $10k to get the companion pass. Only able to use it for spend on BA metal which means routing through Heathrow. Which means a crap load of fees.

Think I'm just going to use it to get first class from HKG to ORD for 140k points and $60. I've got about 100k MR points from the amex platinum card and with the 40% bonus I'll have 2 first class on CX from Hong Kong to ORD. Not a bad deal.

Where are your points taking you these days?

Off peak prices from Nola are 16,250 avios + $145 in fees on the MSY-LHR direct. This is definitely the way to get to LHR these days. You could use your companion pass at least for that. I'd return from Dublin since that has the lowest fees in Europe and a $17 flight from LGW. Remind me, is the BA companion pass valid on Aer Lingus flights? If yes, then that sweetens the deal. MSY-LHR, DUB/SHN-BOS. You'd just have to buy your way back from BOS.

Hey man. Ya, but getting close to that family phase you entered. Saw you posting around and figured you were coming back into the light.

Didn't realize that Avios Cathay angle.

I'm heading to South Africa with my wife and another couple in March. Did a week in Peru last month.

And actually looking at ORD/HKG flights burning these AA miles for next September-ish. Looked like the best route for availability. Will probably bring a friend with me. Not quite sure where I'm heading but Myanmar is moving up.

The wife ruled out Vietnam and a couple other places since she won't be making this trip.

I just download my activity into a spreadsheet and remove the payments. Pretty easy

1 way JAL F, other way CX F. I'll pay you for the JAL coffee mugs! You'll save me 80K AA miles

If you can find the JAL award space either direction for me we can call it an even trade.

BTW a couple years ago I tried to pull off the 10,000 Starwood to JAL to book Bangkok Air BKK to Siem Reap. Would have been a pretty good redemption. It did not work out. Never transfer to a program that requires you to call for a specific award over and over to get a spot. The blogs made it sound easy.

Since they are going to expire after 3 years I may just buy a bookbag off their terrible award portal.

Any other ideas?

ETA: I am figuring out how to find JAL seats on their website so you better act fast!

Figuring out Alaska Air too. That seems more workable than using BA's site or am I wrong on that? Cathay still the best I think since it can go on to Yangon if I go that route. Been using Qantas for that one. I feel pretty good about finding availability between these options. Hope that isn't false hope.

Yep. Kids are travel killers. I don't care what "mommy points" blog says. Ha.

AA miles are awesome for Asia travel. JAL and CX always have plenty of options. Mynamar is on my list too, but I think I'm going to do what you did and your the Thai peninsula beaches.

I won't be back to Vietnam. The communism aspect didn't sit well with me.

Ha. I might end up on JAL. I've flown their first class From NRT to ORD 3 times though. I love it. No mugs though. Ha. I've never flown CX first though.

I'm not very familiar with JAL simply because I don't find that program useful for me. However, recently, Emirates started a EWR-ATH route that is a huge sweet spot using JAL miles. Its something ridiculous like 40-50K for flying F.

Also, you can use JAL to do hops in Asia on JL. I'd also look into Qatar ATL-DOH route. Basically any oneworld direct route apart from BA
