I need to spend $4,000 in 3 months on my new CSR card. So I need to figure out a way to get my bills and all included onto this card. I don't spend that much so I need to see if I can pay my car note on the card. Has anyone ever used Tio before? Is it legit? If I could get my car note on it for the next few months I'll be able to hit $4,000. LINK

I'm in a similar boat. Planning to put car insurance on it, prepay phone bill for an extended period, and make up any slack with grocery store gift cards to prepay future grocery purchases.

I would look to pay car insurance for a year and any other bills that do not charge a fee before using plastiq and similar programs. I paid my house and car insurance ahead of time to meet spend.

Not a ton that I'm aware of. Discover may have one.

Does anyone know anything about the Costco Citi anywhere Visa? I have a Chase Freedom card but this seems better. I want to use this card for the approximately $4k per month I charge for work travel (gas, hotels and flights). LINK

I think the first decision one has to make is are they happy with just Cash Back or do they want to leverage miles/frequent flier programs.

If I just wanted Cash Back, I would probably hold 5 or so cards across all kinds of issuers since the categories they bonus can differ. Since most, if not all are no annual fee, its the smartest thing to do. Cash back = Cash back, easy peasy.

So with that in mind, if this card has any cash back categories better than any other card, use it for that category, but don't use it for categories it isn't.

Good point. I have been using the Chase Freedom for about 5 years and anytime I try to use my points for travel it seems to workout the exact same as when I just trade the points in for cash. If there is a difference I can't see it.

This $4,000 per month that I'm spending in travel is all reimbursed by the company so I'm hoping to get the most out of my points.

That's because you're using a Freedom. Combine it with the Sapphire Preferred or Reserve and you can redeem points for airline miles and get a much better redemption if used wisely. You can't do that with Freedom points alone.

Hi folks. I realize that Frontier probably isn't anyone's favorite airline...but with their MasterCard through Barclays you can easily get free domestics.

Minimum spend: $500 in three months
Bonus: 40,000 miles (20k for any domestic r/t including Alaska)
Annual fee: $69

Have fun churning this little bastard for two free flights and virtually no spending. That's beer money

If you're spending 4K a month in travel, you need to get a chase sapphire reserve quick

That's 12K UR points per month, worth 180 through chase portal or more to partners

I had no prior credit. Granted that was before '08 but it shouldn't matter.

Try Discover. It might be $500 limit, but it should work.
Did you try Slate as well?

You can probably get a Discover, Quicksilver, or a Credit Union CC. At a minimum, these will help build your credit history.

You can always try going in to a Chase branch and talking to someone. They may be able to get you approved.

Just got my first. Got a Discover with a $1000 monthly limit. No credit history before. What I said is that I am a student and live with my parents (they didn't care about me living with my parents as much as the fact that I am a student, never asked family household income or anything) and that I work part time (make $2000 annually). Approved the same night. I would go for Discover honestly. It was a painless process.

Same here

I have 8 cards now (use 2 other than for special occasions) and am 23.

Good luck Carson.

---

For CSR rewards, can I pay the balance off each week and still accumulate the points when the statement comes out? I've never used a card strictly to get rewards before and don't want to mess up the 4k spend sign up bonus by paying everything off before the statement comes out.

I just got my card in Monday and my first payment isn't due until May 1st, but I can't stand seeing debt. So I want to pay it off each week.
