You just broke the first rule of MS club, which is not to talk about ms club.

Some walmarts aren't Bluebird/Serve friendly and pay attention to the cards you're using.

Only time I've ever been excited about the general laziness and DGAF attitude of new Orleans workers.

I don't want to buy a $500 card and not be able to use it. I read online Vanilla doesn't work at Wally bit not sure if that's correct. Now I'm at Walgreens and they have a very limited selection of cards: Serve, Vanilla reloadable prepaid card, Visa prepaid card, everything else sold out. So could I load this Vanilla card with $500 from my SW Visa and then load to Serve at Wally from what you know? It's not like the Vanilla picture Afro posted above.

So I came home defeated

I wasn't sure what I was doing like a total noob and didn't want to get cards that wouldn't load. Reading this page gives conflicting stories
LINK

They mention Meta Card, US Bank Visa and Mastercard, and Sunrise Bank working but then in the comments I see people saying they had issues using some of them. Plus, not sure where to buy these cards out here in Hawaii.

Any for sure cards you guys know work at Walmart and what stores to get them?

I grab mine from Staples online or from the grocery store.

I'll see if I can get a pic of the ones I get from the store for you.

I have about 200k in mixed UR and MileagePlus points that I wanted to use for two round trip first to Europe.

Is there an easy way to search for only first class saver awards regardless of destination? There are about a dozen acceptable European destinations, and my priority is really just getting the first class ticket for the transatlantic leg. I am having trouble finding availability for summer 2016.

we have a Marriot Reward Card (through Chase) and a Chase Sapphire card. Should we get rid of one or the other?

we have a balance on both (about 3k combined, cards worth 16k) and debating putting our next vacation on these cards.

Any tips?

Last vacation we spent about 12k for 2 people, did 16 days total in Europe..... we did 3 days in Amsterdam, 3 days in Venice, and had a rental car in Belgium. Spent days in Brussels, Ghent, Brugge, Antwerp, Dinant, Liege, and Namur. Then a day in Luxembourg as well.... I thought 12k for 2 people including flights + hotels wasn't bad.

Thanks, Teddy

Doesn't have to be a pic, just tell me the exact card please.

ETA: we don't have Staples here so I could order online too if I need to. We have CVS, Walgreens, and Longs if they have cards that work for Serve? I just want to buy $500 cards at a time if they'll work.

You got that at Staples? I just read another blog that grocery store VGC's should work no problem at WM so I think I may go to Safeway and WM today and try it out. Any luck with grocery store GC's?

So you use the pin # to make these work, correct?

Went to Safeway and got a Metabank VGC that said $20-$500 and asked for $500. Cashier said I have to pay for it with cash since it's a variable amount card

I didn't feel like trying a different line, but is this one of those situations to try another cashier? Ended up buying a $500 Safeway card since we'll definitely use it.

Gotcha. I see it's debit card only and not credit cards.

How do you like your credit card to serve to make the transfers? I only see debit card link.

That's what he meant, I linked my new CitiGold debit card to my Serve and have been able to load $200 daily without a fee. Nice and easy. As far as a credit card, I don't think that works or if it does, it certainly won't be free and probably treated as a cash advance not a purchase.

Not every store is going to let you do it. You have to do your own research on the ground sometimes.

As for Serve, no CC can be linked now. However, I can do it because I have a grandfathered old version of Serve that new people can't get.

Yeah, Safeway is a no go. I went to a different grocery but their cards only went up to $200 at most.

Are you keeping your SPG? Just got the $95 fee and called to cancel and they went ahead and started the cancel process and didn't offer any points or reduced fee. I said I'd call back

Just not sure if it's worth $95 for me especially right now while I'm not using it at all because of all my spend requirements. I like having an AMEX, Starwood hotels, and I like the 5,000 mile bonus when transferring to airlines but I'm torn on keeping it. I figure the IHG is easily worth $49 and I will keep one of my airline cards, likely the Aviator which is $95 since I do use AA a good bit and the Priority boarding, etc is good for me. The United, Prestige, Citi AA, and Southwest will all be canceled over the next year.

Canceling the AA and SPG are 2 of my oldest cards though. But paying $240 annually for 3 cards doesn't seem like it makes much sense. Too bad SPG doesn't take a note from IHG and Hyatt and offer a free night per year. Any reason you'll keep your SPG?

Afro, do you have SPG too?

Well, Marriott is officially the buyer of Starwood as of this morning so I doubt I hold onto it after the next year or so when the merger completes.

Yes, I have the personal card and I've paid the annual fees on it for a couple years, but I won't be renewing it. I can't justify $100 renewal with no additional perks(that I use) unless they offer a lucrative retention. No telling what Amex will do with retention/sign up bonuses with news of the merger.

Really disappointed with news of the merger.

I will try to churn the SPG Business card twice before the merger if I can.

It would be pretty devastating if Marriott did a 1:1 for SPG points . I'll probably end up throwing my points in to a refundable reservation before that happens just in case. I have about 75k points left.

I just cancelled my wife's last week and still have mine.

I figure once this dies the choices are either Amex Everyday or keeping my Premier and future Prestige (for simplicity sake) for non bonused spend.

Weird thing about Citi is a Prestige card won't keep Premier points alive(post cancel) longer than 90 days, so I've read.

That's crap.

I've never really dug in to Marriott cards. I guess it's heading that way. The Marriott foot print will be ridiculous.

at Walmart and they have no idea about this Serve stuff..surprise surprise. I wanted to see which cards will work. They said no gift cards only debit cards to load to Serve. Is that right?

Technically, yes. But the right gift card is a debit card - the last four digits are your PIN. I get the $20-$500 cards from either Sunrise bank or Green Dot bank that cost $4.94. They're kinda hard to find - Vanilla dominates the shelf space.

If one register doesn't work go to another one. Yesterday I was trying to buy $1000 worth with a new AA MC and it was declined at first. I asked to run it again and it worked fine.

You can load your serve at any register in walmart - for convenience/employees who know what they're doing, I usually go to the Money Center when it's empty.

FYI

CSP sign up bonus is up to 50,000 points instead of the usual 40,000

I finally signed up. I just have to figure out how this card blends into my current rotation.
