Is it an Exec card that's pending or another card? You can't churn the Exec card anymore.

It's an exec card. I've been churning applications with invite codes that show up at my house. Those still work but are hard to come by. They don't have the 18 month language. This is the first one that went pending for me out of i think 3 or 4 successful churns.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. It sounded like that's what people were doing.

I wrote the email for my wife and she got the 80,000. I then got my card a month later and wrote a similar email and didn't get the extra 10,000

Just recently, she got the Sprite 25,000 extra (that I of course logged into her account and got for her) but when I went to get it, it said I didn't have enough points. WTF? I gots no luck

Did you check out the gold checking account?

That's an easy 60k+ point deal.

I was looking at my 2 Barclays US aviator cards to check my spend and I spent about $7k(bonus 1.5 on any spend) on one and $3k on the other one but I haven't used the $3k spend card since month 1. The one they offered the promo of "spend $500 each month for 3 months" is the $7k spend card and the one that grants 10k miles upon renewal which is due next month.

So basically I'll get 26.5k miles for $95. Not a bad deal.

I'll have about 220k miles leftover to try and get the family in biz class to Australia/New Zealand in January 2017. I don't think that's an easy redemption for AA miles either. I think Asia redemptions are where AA miles shine.

You talking about the Citi Gold? I was going to come and tell you thanks for the heads up actually. Got the account opened and used my new Prestige so that was a $26,000 "purchase"

Will get $100 off my annual fee too for the Prestige for having the account. Already applied for the Global Entry and have my appointment in a few weeks. Did my first bill pay today although it's not going out till Nov 2nd so I guess I'll have to wait till Dec to make my second one. My only need is to do the $1,000 in debit card, any recs? I went ahead and did the AA miles as I don't want to have to worry about redeeming the TY points within 90 days of closing the Gold checking acct.

I linked my Citi AA and Citi Prestige with the Gold online so I only have to login one place for all 3, nice and easy. I may actually keep the Prestige for a second year considering they're paying me $250 to have it the first year and that doesn't even count all the perks or points

Still nothing good to come back from MSY to HNL in Jan with miles, used to be no problem so that's alarming as I will have 200k AA miles soon. Which Asia carrier you like with AA?

I just bought 2 x $500 GCs and loaded those to Serve.

If you don't have a load option, perhaps do some reselling?

You have to load to something for it to work or I could just buy 2 gift certificates? I really don't know much about the Serve/Bluebird, etc stuff or MS at all. I guess I should learn.

Gonna need to spend $2k real quick as I need some SW points for a flight from SLC to MSY for the wife and I and the points on SW look pretty good. The 50k points offer will cover that plus more.

Just FYI in case it helps anyone, I didn't call in and got an email today saying I was approved. This is actually the first email i've ever gotten from them about an approval.

Think I will open the citi gold account next. Thanks to you guys on this board for the lead on that one.

I use British Airways site to search space. They show Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific awards on their site. Between the two of those, if you're booking far in advance or last minute, you can almost always seem to find a biz/first seat. I actually was able to pick from a variety of flights to fit my schedule for my January trip.

Try to get creative with the routing. Just a quick search shows that there are a decent amount of award flights PHX to HNL. Try searching segment to segment to get to PHX or LAX. AA award calendar doesn't always display all your options. Try flying out of Gulfport or Baton Rouge?

I do not fly very often, so I am not very interested in airline miles. What does the board consider the best option for getting points for hotels as I would like to use hotels while traveling around the country in the next few years. Thanks

Depends on where you're travelling and what level of hotels you want to frequent.

I would like to travel through the northeast into Canada on about a three week trip. Would be looking for good clean property to rest and visit in certain areas. Mostly sightseeing trip. The next year something up the west coast to Washington.

Chase Ritz Carlton card grants Marriott Gold status (automatic room upgrade among other perks) and a whole bunch of points if you catch it at the right time. $10k a year spend keeps the status and it is one heavy metal credit card.

The Marriott has a very large footprint and has brands in all types of price range. Per Buckeye's rec, the Ritz card comes with a $400 fee, but it gives enough points to give you several free nights at lower end properties as well as $300 per year in Airline incidentals. Also gives gold status which would give free breakfast/wifi. It's a hit up front, but would easily pay for itself in the back end. Marriott has several cards if the $395 is too steep for you.

The Amex SPG is my favorite CC for non bonus spend(e.g. Wal-Mart, Target), but the SPG footprint isn't as large. It does come with enough points to give anywhere from 2-5 free nights.

Hyatt is my go-to redemption hotel. I find the redemption value to be the best for me, but the card is fairly mediocre for providing additional benefits.

IHG has a huge footprint and the card will give at least 2 free nights on sign up.

I don't follow Hilton.

The best thing you can do is to get a general idea of what hotels are in the areas you want to stay, and then get a card that would give you free nights or/and benefits for having the card.

I realize this is an old post, and the loophole may be closed - but wondering if you could shed some light on how to reserve nights at Thalasso. thanks!

The Thalasso deal is essentially dead. You might stumble upon a couple of days here and there, but it would be very hard to plan a trip around in advance.

Vanilla Visa and One Vanilla. My go to store for the other type of Visa cards took them all away. Also, is anyone else having trouble with loading Redcard with any of the Vanilla cards? They used to load but I have been getting rejected lately.

Yeah, I was looking at flying to HNL from LAS, LAX, SEA, SFO, etc so I can do that and just do a flight to those locations from MSY, but it would be easier to go AA on one award like I usually find. I'll continue to search and hope it comes open.

Btw, how did you spend the $1,000 on your debit card for the Citi Gold bonus?
