Pretty good article on Prestige over Amex
LINK
If the Prestige had SPG Gold, it would be a home run to me. The 100k Amex points seems like a sweet bonus but I think I would get more from Prestige. The $250 is easier spent too vs the $200 that's supposed to go only for fees. Will hold off a little longer on deciding. But seems like I'll get Prestige soon so I can use the $250 on a flight I book soon and have another $250 around the corner. Plus, don't need to beg to get their offer, it's there for the taking

Got my card today
Looking at the TSA Pre or Global Entry... Looks like I'd have to have a passport in order to apply for Global Entry, which I don't have. So it would take nearly two months to complete the entire process.
I have a bunch of trips coming up in the next two month in which TSA Pre could come in handy.
Is the global entry really worth going for if I'd likely only have 1-2 overseas trips in the next few years? Never had to go through customs, so really don't now.
Trying to decide what to do

Are you travelling overseas solo? If you are travelling with a wife/gf/kids etc, unless they have Global Entry also they will be required to go through the normal customs/security process.

I got mine because I was initially facing a tight connection from China to Newark to MSY.
I only travel overseas once a year, so extra $25 / 5 trips over 5 year period you can have it = $5 per skipped line.
I'll pay that every time. I REALLY REALLY hate lines.
On another note:
Serve loads still going strong. Even switched my credit card out because I had to.

On another note:
If you're traveling first/business you usually get to skip the lines as well except clearing customs. Another benefit of being a first/business passenger is you're first to deplane, so it's best not to lollygag(never spelled that word I don't think) if you know you have a tight connection so you beat the rest of the plane in. Some carriers even give express line access for customs as well.

Yeah yeah yeah . I'm $1k in to Visa Buxx and no card in hand. Hopefully it's not a real pain to unload.
On a more positive note:
I was noticing DL and UA are continuing their non-stop service to Cancun through next summer. I've got these Skypesos I need to use and DL jacked up the rates on the KE flights from ICN so I had to scratch that. 17.5k points/way isn't too bad.
I'm not a big all inclusive fan, but the Hyatt they have opening in November looks to be pretty high end. Hell, 2 rounds of $200 cards, and you've got a "free" night. It could be a fairly easy long weekend getaway for a few hundred bucks.

Funny you're looking at Cancun. I'm more interested in flying there and traveling down to Tulum.
I'd love to go on around Halloween.

Well, at least you probably won't do what I did.
Opened a checking account in town that I could deposit the cash in since I have USAA. The new habit led me to lose the new debit card 3 days after getting it I suppose since someone tried using it in New Orleans East.
Thing is I had already emptied it down to $4 so they didn't have too much luck with it I think.
Finally got my order of staples cards to go through but then saw the rumor news that the Kates may be getting replaced....

Trying to do some manufactured spending with chase ink. What is the deal with Office Depot and buying Amex prepaid cards? They wouldn't let me do it for just a $200 load to start. Said I couldn't do it with a credit card

You probably tried to buy the wrong thing. You can only buy certain types with a CC. And it changes from merchant to merchant.

Nice. Went to Tulum 10 years ago or so. Nice to have a sub 2 hr international non-stop.

What a terrible machine those things are. It would be nice if they were replaced with a product that actually worked.

Yep, Office Depot generally only allows you to buy fixed amount gift cards with a CC and those usually top out at $200.

Where is the best place to find a breakdown on the best prepaid cards and merchants to buy them?

They really are awful. Problem is the replacements don't seem to have a way to swipe GCs to load Serve.
Hopefully this is just the barebones models debuting and it becomes more feature rich

No, would be with other people and I don't know if they would have it or not. Honestly, how long are we talking if coming back from England to go through customs
Just weighing the benefits. I think I've got 6 trips booked from Oct-Dec where I could use TSA PRE. If I spent the money to get my passport early and waited for that to go through and then waited for the Global Entry to clear, I'm thinking it would be after 4 of those trips.

Global Entry in Atlanta is pointless. I get though customs really fast without it.

Likely flying direct from Houston. Anyone gone through international there?

I did from Spain(technically Frankfurt off an A380) in January. Took me probably 35 minutes. Again, I hate lines so rounding the ropes in a snake line that long is enough for me to pay
