Really, since when?

Does redbird have CC reloads?

Since April 16th or some other.

Redbird has CC reloads but you have to do them at Target. However, you can do $5,000 a month in CC loads, which is pretty freakin awesome.

Are you going during the dry season when you can swim in the Devil's Pool?

We are planning a Safari in 2017 and that is high on our to do list while there.

Thank you, sir. That $13k in swipes will essentially give me almost $500 worth of points over the course of a year when I end up using them sll.

Tentative itinerary includes stopover in Istanbul, day in Cairo, eventually end up at Victoria Falls (do a game drive while we're there), and then stopover in Abu Dhabi/Dubai before heading back. Wish I had more time to hit Cape Town while I am down there, but it is what is.

Very nice. I know Buckeye was planning an African safari trip. Care to share the details? It's not a common trip blogged about and one reason is I'd assume that is due to lack of major hotel brands in much of the area.

I'm going to Colorado next month. A redbird card is a priority for me. The Serve has been an awesome product. I've gotten almost $600 in free bookings from it through my Arrival + card.

Really underrated card. I've gotten almost $3,800 after costs in value out me and my wife's card in less than 2 years.

This seems to good to be true. What's the catch?

I used to think VRs were the best thing since sliced bread, but even those cost $4 per $500 load

What's your secret?

I honestly just got it to get a free night in Miami since annual fee is waived. Didn't feel like dropping points at Marriott or Hilton since they are all overpriced. I already have those two aforementioned cards, so I don't even know if I'll keep it

The catch is you can't get one in LA and have to figure out another way to get one since its only available in certain states/stores right now.

Was that due to using it in Bora Bora or whatnot?

I kinda wish all these weddings I went to the last couple years I just bit the bullet and used a hotel card to attempt to cover, but with the discounted wedding block rates I was thinking about the lower value and not saving the cash But in hindsight, I also was getting/using a bunch of other cards too not paying for flights so its how it goes.

Probably could have used some commas up there

Yeah. Actually it's gotten me well over $4k
4 nights in Bora Bora($4k) and 2 nights in Moorea($1,200) minus buying points($280) and 2 annual fees($98).

Even if you don't go to that extreme, you can still get huge value out of it especially nice when you can get your spouse one and get 2 consecutive free nights.

Yeah, I still use Priceline for a lot of my travel as well. I save the free nights for aspirational trips where rooms are usually north of $500.

Using two free Chase Hyatt nights at the new Park Hyatt in NYC later in the year and paid for the other night with 30k UR points. Rooms are $1k/night. That's crazy talk.

I've been reading up on the target prepaid redcard by Amex. Looks like I'm going get one. You can do free bill pay for home payments, loans, etc... They will mail a check to payee. You can load 2k per day with your own credit card and even bill pay your own credit card too. I should be able to get an easy 4-5k points per month this way

Ok so I'm a credit card rewards total newb.

I got the Chase Saphirre Preferred last month, added a new authorized user and am working my way up to 4k for three months.

Is there an easy way to see how much total I've spent on the card (I pay it off periodically through the month) other than looking at my bank statement? Not a huge deal, just curious.

Secondarily, what's the best way to use these points? I assume the miles is the best.

And finally, should I keep using CSP for the rest of the year, then cancel it so I don't have to pay the fee?

Depends on the card but normally airlines is the best bang for the buck.

Nope. Rape the bonus and then move on to the next card.

Well, don't be too hasty about it. Make sure you've transferred the points out or have another premium card to transfer to partners or you'll be in a dumb spot.

Miles usually are the biggest bang for your buck. Just depends on where you want to go.
Transfers to United will give you good options on Star Alliance carriers for International travel.

Singapore has decent options for Asia/Russia/Germany.

If you have a CSP and get the points, they are tied to the CSP.

If you cancel the CSP without using/transferring the points you lose the points.

If you downgrade the CSP to just CS, you aren't getting the full value of the points because you can't transfer the points from Chase UR to say United or Krisflyer where the points are worth more. Only CSP, and Ink Plus/Bold can points be transferred from Chase to Airline partners.

Therefore, to give Kosmo a complete answer, you must make sure he is aware of these issues.

Now, if he has a Freedom or something, he could transfer his CSP points to that to safe harbor them, cancel CSP, then get another premium card later and transfer the points to that premium card then to partners.

Chase offers 20% off travel if you book through them with the points.

Is that better than getting them transferred?
