Hold on, are you saying get Square to swipe your own card you need a minimum spend on into your own account so you're essentially paying yourself?
quote:If you sign up through link, you get $1k in free swipes. Sign yourself up, then refer yourself or your wife if you have other bank accounts and then you get $1k for the referral and your wife(or other account) gets another $1k. So, with 2 bank accounts you can get $3k worth of free swipes. If you go over the free swipe limit, it's a 2.75% charge I believe.
You do have to pay a fee for that though, right? Still, a good idea if you just need to get the spend if that is what you're saying.

What's up with Thank You points? Are they worth it? 50k of those worth how many miles? Kind of a stupid name
LINK
They actually have some decent transfer partners if you fly internationally to places not called Europe or the Caribbean.
Singapore Kris Flyer miles will likely be my go to choice for transferring as their award chart is pretty good for US/Asia travel and I can transfer AMEX/UR points to them as well. Very easy to stock up points.
You can also redeem Thank You points and get a 1.6 cents per point if you book American Airlines flights. So, within the first year you can get a minimum value of $1,300 of flights for $450 and potentially a lot more if you can use the transfer partners.
Solid card. Oh and yeah...stupid name.

Anyone have a Marriott reward card? Is it worth to get just to use for hotels only?
A couple of them are worth getting for the sign up bonuses if you want to stay in a Marriott, but the cards are not good everyday spenders and should really only be used to pay for Marriott hotels.

This, I will add that between SPG & Marriott, I would rather pledge allegiance to SPG. I think they offer a better product overall.

I have the Marriott card but I also got the Ritz Carlton card at the same time which gives me Gold status with both. $10k spend a year on the Ritz card will maintain that status. I also got 70k Marriott points and 140k Ritz Carlton points when I signed up. Their points go in the same bucket.

I think it depends on how often you travel.
I use it just for that - but I do it to help preserve platinum (never hit the 75 days but breach 55 and they keep me at it) - the card helps me earn a few extra days credit.

I'll need to check the golf but wouldn't surprise me if there's none participating here in Hawaii since courses are so expensive.
LINK These are the courses. Looks like about a dozen in Hawaii. Two for Louisiana.

That's what I figured. Just making sure there wasn't something I wasn't aware of that didn't carry the $6.95 premium.

Yeah it's not as lucrative since Visa Savings Edge program quit giving the 1% back on purchases, but still good in a pinch if you need UR points.
The good thing about the Square swipe is that it takes any gift card without prejudice unlike Amex Serve.

Still value there since you can create about $20 at a minimum with Ink, however, the closest working WM ATM is a bit of a hike, so gas cost is a factor for me. Therefore I just use them as a booster or if I know my work will take me around there.

While it was my understanding that there would be no math, if my calculation is correct, a purchase through the UR portal (+2) on an Ink Plus/Bold (+5) of $206.95 would net you 1,449 points. If so, that would double the premium of the purchase even at a 1:1 ratio. So, not bad, all around.

speaking of hotel cards, the Hyatt card is almost worth getting because for an $75 annual fee you get a free night at majority of their properties. It pays for itself times over. I wouldn't put any spend on it though.

What airline cards do you guys like the best?
Right now I have a USAA card that gives me decent cash back and a Capital One that does as well. Looking to get some solid miles out of my purchases if possible.

UR portal (+2)
Unfortunately the portals no longer work on gift cards. It's still a very easy way to MS some UR points.

I was planning on getting the Hyatt card until I noticed it was only good up to a tier 4 property. Turned me off a bit.

Ya, that was fun for the whole 5 GCs I purchased while it worked

quote:I don't carry mine, but it's a fairly decent card to put spend on if you want to stay at Hyatts. 2x points on restaurants/airfare.
I wouldn't put any spend on it though.
I have probably transferred half of my UR points out to Hyatts anyways. I would carry it, but my wallet already hates me for stretching it out as is.

Domestic/International travel?
Do you fly for business?
Closest hub you travel out of?
The AA cards are my favorite airline product as they tend to offer a lot of bonus opportunities and good redemption values with their off peak rates.
