Can I get Euro at a Regions bank?

As a few know I'm headed to Europe and I would like some cash to take with me, is there a Regions bank in Baton Rouge or surrounding areas that will do an exchange? I would prefer to do it this way rather than an exchange at the Airport.

You should be able to order some at any branch. They don't keep any on hand in the branches.

As you may already be aware, there are credit cards that don't charge foreign exchange fees. It might not be worth your time to drive to the bank for it.

True and I have my sapphire card I'm bringing with me but I want some cash on hand as well

Just get a cash advance from an ATM at the airport. My suggestion would be to make sure you pay down whatever balance you might have down to below zero so that the advance doesn't trigger interest charges, but other than that you should be good to go.

Why would he do this when he can just use his debit card at an ATM on arrival?
That plus the credit card should be no issues

If he can that's certainly a better way to go provided the OP's bank doesn't charge a bunch for the service.

Be sure to contact your bank/credit card company in advance of your travel and let them know you will be traveling out of country

Every bank will have them. Use the bank that you have for better exchange fees. I never trust the ATMs abroad. Always have to have some cash on hand

CapOne does not charge an exchange fee on currency, provided that you have an account. I'm with the OP, I like to have a few euros in my pocket when I step off the plane. I want a coffee immediately, and I don't want to wait in line at an ATM. Now, for the rest of the trip, using your debit card to get more cash is fine.
If you have a later day arrival, the airport ATMs can be empty....or out of service, or 1/2 mile out of your way. A little local money in your pocket can help get your vacay started on the right foot.

I would just go ahead and get a bit from the bank and call it done. For the rest of your trip just use a debit card or credit card, the are even more ubiquitous in Europe than the US. Top up with ATM as necessary, just remember you WILL pay a fee to convert back to US dollars unless at your local bank.

What airports you landing at with all these problems?

Stuff happens (transit strikes leading to long/expensive taxi rides, demagnetized debit cards, empty ATMs, and an endless list of other possibilities)....most of us drive by or fairly close to a branch bank. With a phone call to the bank, you can get a few euros with no more trouble than buying a bag of chips. Peace of mind and flexibility immediately upon arrival--that's what I like.
If you're completely jet lagged, it's nice to simply stagger off the plane and have money in your pocket.

There are places to exchange money in all international airports. Traveling to Europe you should have no worries about getting cash from machines.

Know where I could get some Thai baht?
I don't trust those bastards to have a fully functional government when I arrive
