Charlie Mac went to his deathbed saying the facemask on Benji Thibodeaux was a bad call.
True. There was also an obvious blown no-call on illegal procedure against SC during that same game-winning drive.

gfycat of Peterson int vs bama
and yes thats tom ritter, once again with a clear line of sight on the play but giving it to bama anyway.
we would have been on our 35, down by 6 with 5:54 left. we could have easily taken a momentum swing like that, run the ball, run the clock down, and won. the winner isnt decided by us choosing who we "think" is gonna win, its by the kids on the field actually playing the game.

The Peterson no int call was bad, but I don't think we were gonna win that game anyway.

You need to look at it again. Corey was in position to catch the pass for an interception. The AL receiver, beside Corey tried to stick his arm over in front of Corey and force his arm down, caught the receivers arm and flipped it away and then caught the pass. This is permitted and legal if a player puts his arms over your arm. Two referees were standing about 5 yards and 15 yards a way looking right at it.
After all the noise by Shula, the SEC head official in Birmingham and the ESPN guys, when Shula saw the game film he did not bother to send the play film clip to the SEC. This is customary when there is a blown call. This is used to improve the referees.
The worst official call I ever saw was the one against LSU In the 2000? or maybe 1999? game in which the MSU back did not across the goal line by at least a yard. An LSU player was thrown out of the game for protesting vehemently. The play is now known as the "Phantom TD"

Actually there is one at Auburn that was worse. LSU intercepted a pass but a DB committed pass interference behind the guy who intercepted the ball and Auburn was given a first. Later in the game and Auburn DB tackled a receiver then a DB tipped the ball so no pass interference. So, I guess there is interference if you intercept, but not if you tip the ball. Didn't make sense then, doesn't make sense now. LSU would have won the game if interference would have been called.

ump had his back to the play called him out. such BS. Probably would have won it in two if this never happened.

Auburn 2006 bad calls (these are only ones from rnolans youtube video)
1. no football move on catch and fumble, replay overturned. Hester got two feet down than the ball came out. Catch
2. no flag on EZ throw to LaFell, play clearly didn't let him come back to the ball.
3. ED9 gets blown up right on the side line no late hit flag.
4. PI flag pick up.
5. fall on center
please add more

I can't stand it when this guy does one of our games. He's guaranteed to screw us at least once in every single game.

Emmitt Smith out of bounds at 0:00 refs put :01 on clock @ TS; UF FG for W in 89.
We had a few I guess though Old Mist fans didn't cry over this one!
Actually Kyle Morris, the QB, threw the ball out of bounds as time expired. The head linesman said the ball crossed the out-of-bounds marker with one second left on the clock. Te second was added, FL kicked the field goal and won. I remember, I was there and it was painful.
"1989: College Football's First "Overtime" Game[edit]
In what was jokingly referred to as an "overtime" game in Steve Harvey's nationally-syndicated "Bottom Ten" column, the match appeared to end in a 13–13 tie as UF attempted to throw the ball out of bounds to stop the clock. Fireworks were even set off over Tiger Stadium in celebration, for the holding off of a late Gator comeback. Then, an official ruled that 1 second needed to be added back to the clock, allowing the Gators time to attempt the game-winning field goal. The unexpected setback sent LSU reeling into a losing streak and its first losing season in years. The manner in which LSU lost the game helped push them into the top spot of that week's Bottom Ten."

in both of the gfy's i linked ( Jefferson getting speared and the Peterson INT), ritter is standing right there, with a clear line of sight, he's looking directly at the play, yet still fricks it up.
at best, hes incompetent.
