For some reason the numbers 15 and 0 come to mind. But I am sure the geniuses on this board would have just let his contract expire...

Who else was going to hire O? Nobody wanted him because they all knew he was a joke as a coach and it was only because he was a "great fit" here that led to his success. Of course, ultimately that was not true either. He was a success because of Joe Burrow and his assistant coaches. When he lost them he was mediocre at best.

And this is the disconnection. Some people actually care about LSU Basketball. Some don't. The guys that care a lot get over the top at times arguing against the guys that couldn't give two shits - besides chiming in to make sure get to say they don't care.

No it wasn’t Woody’s full body of work. It didn’t cover his time at LSU when we were winning. That was left off.

If you are going to blame him for Romar’s losses then he should get credit for Wade’s successes while he was AD, right???

I loved the way OP cherry picks the stats. Romar had his most successful years at UW after Woodward was hired as the fulltime AD in 2008, winning the PAC10 twice and advancing to the Sweet 16 once. But, that was before a contract extension, so obviously that cannot count. Let's also not include an NCAA appearance and NIT quarterfinal loss after said extension.

Buzz never coached a game under Woodward. However, he did manage to win an SEC championship and was runner-up in the NIT last year and made the NCAAs this year. Seems to have that program going in the right direction. But, somehow in the view of the OP this is a blight on Woodward.

Woodward has hired two, repeat two, basketball coaches in his career as an AD. One has his program headed in a positive direction and the other is in year one.

Why such foolishness OP?

The contract that was just extended the previous offseason and still had more than 3 full years remaining on it was going to expire?

Once again, have you ever, in your entire life, had a single thought on any topic that wasn’t among the most stupid things any other rational person has ever heard?

Wondering why he’s so bad at hiring basketball coaches.

His last 2 stops are not basketball schools. That said Buzz was a very good hire for A&M. His 2nd year was the stupid pandemic year, last year his 3rd they probably should have made the tournament this year his 4th they finished 2nd in the SEC regular season and made the finals of the SEC tournament. If you think he’s a bad hire because they lost a 7-10 match up, what exactly do you think A&M should expect? LSU his hire had one year so far, yeah it was bad, did we forget that pretty much the entire team last year left? Again what was expected, does the hire need to make the tournament every year? What level of success do you you expect at places like A&M or LSU every year?

If you would have followed the entire conversation, you would have gotten exactly what I was talking about. Romar had that program rolling when Scott got there, why did it end up in the ditch during his tenure?

Because things aren’t static. Coaches aren’t robots, they are human. Things change.

PM admitted he won the NC and changed. O changed after the 2019 NC. Brady went to the FF and got a fat deal and coasted. So did Dale Brown.

Coaches get complacent. They get stale. There aren’t many like Nick Saban who are relentless each and every day and each and every year.

What was Wade's record vs Buzz?
When will Buzz play his next NCAA Tourney game? I want to watch.

You’re really good at attempted smart arse comments, but you’ve yet to actually contribute to the conversation. Lots of post with no real substance.

There’s actually been some good responses in this thread as opposed to the mouth breathers who typically chime in with, nobody cares about basketball or he hired Kelly, Johnson and Mulkey.

Of course, none of those intelligent comments came from you.

I know you think those are great zingers but it doesn’t change the fact Buzz was a good hire for A&M. He won at Marquette and Va Tech he was 2nd in the Sec and made the tournament this year probably should have been in last year and made NIT finals, what are the expectations for basketball at A&M?

You Wade fan girls need to get over it. It’s done, whining about it won’t change anything. If it was a mistake, no one is perfect. The AD has made outstanding hires in football (the most important) and baseball (arguably the 2nd most important) and women’s basketball. Time will tell on McMahon it was a terrible first season for sure who knows going forward.

Maybe ask Romar what has changed? It’s not like he’s had great success since getting out from under Woodward. Any evidence that suggests Woodward did something to tear down the program? The hatred for the AD just because he fired your boy is getting old and you come across as a petulant child who hasn’t gotten his way.

People who don’t care about basketball

Just because someone doesn’t see the need to whine and cry continually over the obvious lack of performance by a first year head coach who’s taking over a program facing possible significant NCAA recruiting penalties, it doesn’t follow that anyone not doing so doesn’t care about basketball.

quote:

I didn’t say he should be fired

Well, that’s a good thing because we would’ve known right away that you were playing with a few cards short of a full deck, when it comes to evaluating an AD’s performance.

Our basketball program has been negatively impacted by our past coach, who decided to play the part of a fool, and get himself recorded on a wire that went on to play a role in a basketball corruption trial. If he hadn’t allowed himself to get fired for cause, our current coach wouldn’t even be here. But he is here and it is for too early to be calling out our AD for his basketball hiring methods. imo

The "Joke" has been a part of how many National Championships?
Would you continue to Coach when a "Woke" administration paid you 15 million dollars to go fishing or lay on the beach? Who was the Joker, O or W, or the fans?
How many championships has BK been a part?
How many Champions has Woodward hired?
Hell, Jimbo couldn't even win the SEC when he had the easiest schedule in the SEC.
Buzz Peterson's team never beat Wade's team, and was the first SEC team out of the tournament this year.
Don't bring up losers, or Jokers, when Woodward's man only won 2 SEC Basketball games this season.
