Just because I think the hiring process that gave us O was fricked up by Alleva, that doesn't mean I hate O or that I want him to fail. That's stupid!

Don't pretend you know what I think or want. I want LSU to win every time they play anyone in anything no matter the head coach. I'm not like the clowns here that want the team to suffer a defeat so they can what they want.

I'll give OP a worry post to thump his chest about.
LSU should've had more big gains by now playing those 2 scrubs.
I see a regression in 2nd level blocking and vs 2016 they've lost over a yard in ypc.
In 100+ att LSU has one rush over 20yds, a 25yd long and only 17 of 10+ yds.
This is much less breakaway % than vs last year's tougher schedule(so far).

I am not particularly worried about state. Sure it might be close, but if it's close they'll get tight. They'll remember that they've only beaten us twice in 25 years. They'll be waiting for something bad to happen, and when it does they will collapse.

That being said, I don't think this one will be that close. I have faith that Aranda will have the D ready to play. There will probably be one lapse that allows MSU to get a TD. Other than that, MSU will find it tough to move the ball. They might be able to squeeze out a few first downs here and there that allow them to pick up some FGs. I don't see them getting more than 13 or 16 points unless we give up a TD in garbage time with a healthy lead.

On offense, I have the feeling that Canada has a few plays picked out just for state. He knows they are going to be aggressive on Defense, and he's going to have a some calls to take advantage of that. For a conference game, I bet we'll see a little more imagination in the red zone too. I can't imagine we'll score less than 20. Guice is going to get his 2 TD's, and a WR is going to take a bomb to the house.

So... No, I'm not particularly worried. As long as we don't have a turnover problem, we should win this.

Why?

Mostly because it's an SEC game and in the SEC, stuff that shouldn't happen can still happen.

I worked an LSU golf tournament as a side college job and was taking Bo Pellini to his car. Shooting the shite I said coach aren't you worried about starting on the road vs Miss St. and I was expecting some softball/coach speak answer.

He looked at me and said point blank "we ain't gonna lose to State"

'Nough said

Edited for result: 45-0 LSU and national champs.

I wasn't worried until their HUGE road win @ Tech. Now Miss. State looks extremely strong in every phase of the game.

I'm not worried about the game. Herbstreit says we'll lose. That seals the deal.

Les Miles happened. He lost focus and refused to change.

He never had focus, just tricked y'all by backing into a BCS champ after losing twice to unranked teams and winning another SEC champ with the most talented D we'll ever see that he had nothing to do with.

In all honesty, I never even give them a thought until days before LSU plays them every year. I certainly don't worry about them. Ever.

Dude... they had like 19-20 returning JR/SR starters in 2014, including a stud QB.

The last 3 years we have wins by 2 points, 3 points and a 5 point loss. We have dominated MSU in overall wins, 16 out of the last 17, but they have certainly posed a challenge lately.

I think we win and should be double digits, but we are also favored against all opponents this year except Bama. Does that mean we will win all those games?

The bottom line is this:
Our defense is incredibly talented but young at many positions. They could be prone to breakdowns as they grow in experience.
In 2 games we have 21 penalties for 160 yards. We have to seriously clean that up or it will cost us in a big game.
We have FG kicking issues.
Despite big offensive outputs, theoffense has not been smooth (understandable)and is not performing well in the red zone.

I have no doubt the team will improve in all of these areas. The issue is that MSU will be playing us at a time when we aren't yet firing on all cylinders and the potential for them to catch us at the right time is there.

By the time we go to Florida I think we will be a much better team. I honestly think we blow them out.

Wow a well thought out logical post on tRant. Have an upvote sir!

Except Vandy

Vandy back in 1990 was a truly BAD football team, getting stomped in every game except vs LSU (their lone win). Watson Brown was fired, that ushered in the Dinardo era at Vandy.

In 2007 we beat them 45-0 and we were national champs bruv as per post.

It wasn't a prediction about 2017

Not worried as much as Anxious. I am anxious because this week we find out where our football team stands. Miss State is a top 20ish team this year and an above average power 5 team. Im anxious to find out if we belong in the CFP discussion or if we are just a very good team that will likely finish in the top 15. This isn't the de facto game but its a big test that as a program we need to pass.

Give me the breakdown of our offensive linemen that were 4-5 star guys?

KJ Malone 3 star (rivals, 247sports, scout)

Adriane Magee 3 star

Jakori Savage 3 star

yes there are some four star rated guys in there.

Don't get it twisted though. Alabama has beat the hell out of our offensive and defensive front the last decade because they have 5 star guys for days lined up against our 3 star guys.
